Took some politician’s favorite parking place did they?
Silly Citizens. Don’t they know the Police Department and Laws are only for the purposes of extracting more cash from citizens attempting to legally go about their day?
SF war on disabled!
The do the same thing in the liberal sewerhole of the East coast New York city. A friend of mine quit the NYPD because he couldn’t stand it anymore, he said the cops are nothing but collection agents for the city and if they lost traffic tickets in court, meaning if the driver got the ticket dismissed the cop would lose a vacation day. They had one cop that was going so crazy with the quota he started writing tickets to dead people. They got the cops out 2am walking up and down the streets looks at the registration stickers on parked cars. The bottom line is it’s just another byproduct of the liberal agenda, the city is spending massive amounts of money: They allow massive welfare fraud, millions of illegals to siphon off social services and who gets the shaft? The cops and the citizen. And incredibly the blatant commie punk that the morons in this city elected as Mayor just signed a bill to pay even MORE money toward illegals ha ha!
I hope the plaintiffs win big time. Normally I feel bad knowing that the taxpayers will end up paying for the lawsuit. But this is San Francisco. I feel no such conflict in this case since most San Franciscans are libs.
They try to wear you down, hoping you give up, pay, and go on your way. Quite a racket. Once I parked at my mother-in-laws house in San Francisco, was there but 15 minutes and the neighbor came over and told me a meter maid ticketed my car for parking beyond 4 hours. You bet I fought it, taking signed statements from neighbors to a hearing before a judge and the ticket was tossed out. Overzealous ticketers falsely write up tickets knowing it's an ordeal for the average person to take the time to fight it in court. Ticket writers in SF are scum.
(Unless you parked where B. Hussein O's presidential limo was about to pass, that is.)

Good! Sue local governments! Cut down on the money and time available for making nothing but trouble. Shut ‘em down. Close the regulatory offices.
I haven't. It's been 15 years and I haven't been near the place. They write punitive laws, they lose the business.
It does not appear that the plaintiffs went through the full protest process, SFMTA spokesman Paul Rose said. They stopped at the administrative review stage, he said, while other options include an administrative hearing and going before the Superior Court.
======================================
People who have to park ANYWHERE in the City KNOW what that involves and they KNOW that the bureaucracy is stupid. I can't think of too many bureaucracies that aren't bloated with uncaring, bored civil servants.
The city has only 750,000 residents but there are one million+ people in the City during the day: out-of-town workers (We have a zillion banks.) and tourists.
We ALL know these things and we deal with them. They know better. They received similar violations in the past and they know what the City is after.
FWIW: Disabled plaques have been SO misused and abused, I don't blame the City for tromping hard on them. I got one for six months when I had my hip replaced. I really did need it and it was a blessing for those gimpy months.
They really out to GET OUT OF DODGE and move to a smaller town where parking isn't such a headache.
You couldn’t pay me to live in Californistan.
Years ago my car got “booted” for an alleged parking infraction. I called the number on the device to find out what sort of extortion they wanted. It was $100 which was a huge sum in those days. I called my brother who came out and torched off the boot.
I then called the tow outfit and demanded $150 to return their boot.
;’)
In Sacramento, CA the city is right up front saying they’re going to increase parking violation revenues by $15 million per year to pay for their new basketball arena. Why anyone would park anywhere in that city knowing they’re going to be robbed escapes me!
I am very skeptical that there is such a thing as a “$25,000 Federal lawsuit”, but IANAL and I could be all the way wrong.
$25K is probably a tad over the filing fees for a typical (minor) Fed lawsuit. A $25K claim within a Federal lawsuit implies, to me, and again, I’ll happily stand corrected, gambling $15K-$20K in filing fees and probably $40K-$100K attys’ fees for a +$25K result, and yes, I understand that fees can be requested as part of a successful outcome...but to say “a successful outcome” in *any* litigation is unforeseeable is the understatement of the year.
Sounds fishy to me, that’s all. No attorney would advocate going into Federal Court for a $25K result.
Oh Lord, thank you for letting me live in remote, rural area where I can park where I want, when I want, with no problems like those described in the article and by other posters.
Legal rights - Yes, but what Constitutional rights?
I hope that they win.
So....not only do the cripples get access to prime parking spots in the city, but they get to park for free?
So then the SFMTA spokesman Paul Rose said:
They stopped at the administrative review stage, he said, while other options include
an administrative hearing and going before the Superior Court.
Just WOW. The SF Government has some serious hubris. But then, didn't they
also get voted into office to create this perfect Utopian bliss?
And the person in the middle of this cluster is probably a flaming liberal
who voted for these people. If so, embrace the suck.
