Liam Neeson, legendary Irish actor and star of such films as Takenand Non-Stop, does not identify with the hardcore, gun-toting action heroes he so often portrays.
"I am totally for gun control in the U.S.," Neeson said in an interview with The Independent. "The population of America is roughly 300 million and there are 300 million guns in this country, which is terrifying."
Neeson criticized the National Rifle Association's response to the 2012 shooting in Newton, Connecticut, which the actor summarized as, "If that teacher had been armed..."
"It's crazy," Neeson said. "I'll give Britain its dues, when they had the Dunblane massacre in Scotland, within 24 hours the gun laws were changed so you could not have a handgun."
Neeson became an official U.S. citizen five years ago. He says of the Constitution: "It is the right to bear arms which is the problem. I think if the Founding Fathers knew what was happening they would be turning in their graves with embarrassment at how that law has been interpreted."
Liam looks like a man, walks like a man, acts like a man, thinks like a metro-sexual....
He jumped the shark with that airplane movie he did; just another “I’m part of the Hollywood Borg” feminine hygiene product.
Well one thing of many that differentiates Americans from Europe is that we have a Constitutional Republic and a Constitution. The 2nd Amendment is the law. If any court or even Congress tries to change that and be so insanely stupid as to attempt to go door to door and collect guns a major revolution would break out instantly. In the UK and othercountries like Ireland and Scotland you just handed them over. Now you are all at the mercy of your socialist tyrannical goverments.
What poor Liam Neesam does not understand because he is not American is that the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with the right to hunt and only secondarily about the right to defend yourself from crime. Its about the right to defend yourself from a tyrannical government. It appears we are headed that way and fairly soon.
1—The UK has a constitution. Albeit looser formed than the US.
2—The stupid gun laws passed Parliament, so stupid as they may have been, it wasn’t as if the UK police and army just turned up at the doors. Also, I would point out for the 9,675,000 th time on FR that some guns are banned, but guns overall are legal in the UK, I know as I am a UK gunowner.
3—Again, I DID point out that the UK and other countries are ruled by conservative govts. And that the political shift in the UK and Europe is to the right.
Actually, I could not care less. Take care.
RE Neeson:
Yeah, I was saddened to hear this. You’d think the guy who played Michael Collins - you know, the leader of a disarmed people enslaved by a foreign power - would GET it... maybe a little of the character would “rub off” on him after the research for the part.
Instead... he turns out to be just another Hollywood douchebag.
The way of things, I suppose...
“The way of things, I suppose...”
The political bilge most of the Hollywooders spew is a major reason why I don’t go to the movies anymore.
Look up “Actors in WWII” and look at the list of folks who served in uniform.
Then try “Actors in Operation Iraqi Freedom”...
Very depressing.
“..Neeson became an official U.S. citizen five years ago. He says of the Constitution: “It is the right to bear arms which is the problem. I think if the Founding Fathers knew what was happening they would be turning in their graves with embarrassment at how that law has been interpreted.”...”
Yes, because, Gee... Liam, you’re SO much smarter and SO much more sophisticated and gifted with much more insight than our Founding Fathers could EVER have been.
And as for “interpreted” law... so you’re a scholar too, huh? Because you played one once, somewhere??? Or maybe you just stayed in a Holiday Inn or something...
Go on back where you came from, bud... we don’t need you. Enjoy your chains. We’ll keep our guns.
ALL of them.
????
Way too many differences to list here.
Apples and oranges.

I don’t need some Mick bastard (I’m 1/8 Mick, so it’s not racist) who’s been a citizen for 5 minutes to tell me about the founding fathers. STFU, Liam. James Madison should crawl out his grave, bear his arms, and punch Liam right in his vagina. “You don’t know me Liam, don’t be talking like you know me, Liam!”
Leader of a bunch of murdering terrorists. A ‘hero’ shot by his own men.
Sorry, which post/remark are you referring to?.
More like apples and ... soy latte...
RE “ A hero shot by his own men.”
Make that “Shot from ambush by cowards” and you’d be correct.
Yep...
WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much time being spent on some doof that repeats lines someone else wrote, sort of like how a parrot functions.
He was killed, that’s all I care about.
