I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
"Arm yourselves, and be ye men of valour, and be in readiness for the conflict; For it is better for us to perish in battle than to look upon the outrage of our nation and our altar. As the Will of God is in Heaven, even so let it be."_______________________________(1 Maccabees 3:5860)

Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in peace! We who remain hold you in high honor. Rest, fallen brother, in this sacred precinct; We who remain keep this place sacred. Rest, fallen brother, among these, your comrades; We who remain keep the watch. Rest, fallen brother, among these who _____answered Our Nations call; We who remain press the fight forward in your name. Rest, fallen brother, lay down thy burden; We who remain have taken up the torch. Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in eternal peace!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

They don’t make ‘em like they used to. These days, they last a lot longer. :)
I’ve gotten my Miata to over 300K with little more than regular maintenance, and I hope to see similar success with the Benz.

Just walked in from my Mom’s appointment...a bunch of knee and shoulder x-rays later, her knee is swollen and it will probably take 4-6 weeks for the swelling to go away. Her knee is a candidate for knee replacement, but her age is not. Another day of cold packs, then heat. Her shoulder is partially locked. He is surprised she can use it as much as she can.
The doctor told her the very things I have been saying for weeks...she goes nowhere without the walker or cane. “Buddy” her cane, is now, “a part of you”. Both her knees buckled twice while she had to stand for the shoulder x-ray. I had asked if I could be there with her and the tech said fine if I didn’t mind a little radiation. I’m old...who cares. Thankfully I was there holding her and the x-ray tech came quickly. She had to bring in the “muscle” to take her weight as she did the mechanics of climbing onto the step stool, and later the reverse.
Pinging in just a minute...then back to my Mom for a bit. I need to get her settled and fed.

If I were Commander-in-Chief, this courageous officer, serving as a civilian, who fell in the same attack with MAJ Mike Donahue, would be called back to active duty posthumously, awarded a Purple Heart, and, subject to the wishes of his family, laid to rest in the Hallowed Grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.
