Al Qaedas South Asia wing has claimed responsibility for hijacking a Pakistani naval ship and trying to use it to fire rockets at U.S. vessels in the Arabian Sea, in the first major assault by the newly created group.
The SITE monitoring service quoted its spokesman, Usama Mahmoud, as saying a group of militants had succeeded in seizing control of the Pakistani frigate PNS Zulfiqar and tried to use it to attack nearby U.S. vessels.

How do pirates take over a Navy ship? How does the Army get it back? Anyway, a positive ending, the terrorist pirates are in Muslim heaven (hell) and no Americans had to get involved.
The Paki’s probably gave them ships.
The bottom line is that no American should trust an armed Muslim.
Agree. Taken or Given?
Is this the one they tried to hijack last week, while it was in port, thinking it was actually a US ship, and they’ve sort of exaggerated the story?
One can bet the zer0 is not aware ... nor is the skerry
“The bottom line is that no American should trust a Muslim.”
Fixed that for ya.
> The Pakis probably gave them ships.
It’s all good. They will sink just the same...: )
I think they’re talking out their asses.
Not only did they probably Pakis give the ship , but they armed it as well along with charts of where our ships are
The impression that I got last week was that they tried to hijack a Pakistani frigate. Someone said that they intended to attack a United States aircraft carrier and mistakenly got on the wrong ship and posted pictures of the comparative size of the two ships, implying that they were stupid. I thought - No, they planned on using the frigate’s weapons against the carrier, attacking in port when the level of alert on the carrier would be the lowest. It worked before, just ask the crew of the USS Arizona - Oh wait! They are all dead.
How is this any different then the usual Pakistani Navy?
The background to this was that the dumbasses thought it was a US ship they were taking over, and galloped aboard a fully manned, with a full security complement, Pakistan navy warship. They were able to do so by wearing uniforms with ID cards.
I believe they were delayed by a junior officer, who they murdered, which the rest of the crew took exception to, and proceeded to kill the dogs. Total casualties: 10 al-Qaeda and 1 Petty Officer.
A lot more details (link shortened)
Good way for Pakistan to lose an expensive warship!
“How does the Army get it back?”
Boots on the water?
Yes, that was what I thought too. I suspect that this is the same event, and they’re trying to turn their loss into a propaganda event.
BTW, the first and presumably real one wasn’t reported very much in the Western press. It should have been, because ISIS lost.
