Cruzifiction
American Vision ^ | September 13, 2014 | Joel McDurmon

Posted on 09/13/2014 10:24:21 AM PDT by all the best

Ted Cruz has made a serious mistake—one supported by sentiments of millions of American evangelicals—and it could cost the lives of many Christians.

I suppose you’ve heard by now that Ted Cruz was recently “booed off stage” for a senseless, ill-placed “stand with Israel” gaffe at a banquet for persecuted Middle East Christians. The worst part of his comments is not that they were calculated for self-serving political purposes—as others have noted already. Although that is certainly bad enough, it is hardly as offensive as the main implication of what he said. Apparently, we must agree with him, or else we are filled with hate and anti-Semitic.

When he said, “Christians have no greater ally than the Jewish state,” boos and jeers erupted from a vocal minority of the audience. It is not clear what their exact motivation or angle was, but it is clear that they did not agree fully with the political import of Cruz’s statement. The unfortunate twist came, however, with how Cruz interpreted their opposition: it has to be “hate”; it has to be “anti-semitism.”

It can’t be that Middle East Christians have a had a worse experience with Israel than the rainbows blessings Ted Cruz has learned about in some pro-“Israel” Bible study, safely tucked away in America somewhere between the pages of a Scofield Bible and a Left Behind novel, with hands laid-on by a charismatic millenarian prophesying about blessing “Abraham’s seed.” It can’t be that Middle East Christians are stuck in a much messier political scenario than is convenient for American evangelicals to comprehend within the box of their tidy eschatologies.

Whatever it is, it can’t be more complex than can be solved by the type of shameless political demagoguery you would expect from a Clinton. If you don’t follow...

It’s not that Cruz is 100% correct. It’s that he’s 100% correct and they can’t stand this.

You clearly are not familiar with Cruz’s resume and experience before becoming a senator. No comparison to the back bencher in the Illinois legislature.

What world are these liberals living in? If anything, articles like this should reinforce the fact that the American left despises Israel, and blames them for all the turmoil in that part of the world. For all their whining about racism, the white liberal left have no problems going after Ted Cruz with both barrels, do they?

I hear he drinks water, too, just like Obama.

I also note that the author quotes the antisemitic/misnamed "American Conservative" cyber sheet. This pro Nazi rage (see Pat Buchanan's recent book) was created because of anger at the Jews who allegedly stole positions from Buchanan's people in the Reagan administration. These cowards can attack the Jews, but it won't help them -- and it won't help anyone other infidel who does it.

Just ask James Foley. Steve Sotloff, and Daniel Pearl where appeasement of Muslim anti-Semites got them /sarc

So, tell me, is it a coincidence that the group to whom Cruz was speaking, In Defense of Christians, shares the acronym, IDC, with the group, Israel Divestment Campaign?

Christian Reconstructionism
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article is about the Protestant movement. For other uses, see Reconstructionism (disambiguation).
Christian Reconstructionism is a fundamentalist[1] Calvinist theonomic movement, founded by Rousas John Rushdoony, that has had an important influence on the Christian Right in the United States.[2][3] The movement declined in the 1990s and was declared dead in a 2008 Church History journal article.[4] Christian Reconstructionists are usually postmillennialists and followers of the presuppositional apologetics of Cornelius Van Til. They tend to support a decentralized political order resulting in laissez-faire capitalism.[5]

Reconstructionist perspective[edit]
Theonomy[edit]
Main article: Theonomy
Christian Reconstructionists advocate a theocratic government and libertarian economic principles. They maintain a distinction of sphere of authority between family, church, and state.[6][7] For example, enforcement of moral sanctions under theonomy is done by family and church government, and sanctions for moral offenses is outside the authority of civil government (which is limited to criminal matters, courts and national defense). However, these distinctions become blurred, as the application of theonomy typically increases the authority of the civil government; prominent advocates of Christian Reconstructionism have written that according to their understanding, God’s law approves of the death penalty not only for murder, but also for propagators of all forms of idolatry,[8][9] active homosexuals,[10] adulterers, practitioners of witchcraft, and blasphemers,[11] and perhaps even recalcitrant youths[12] (see the List of capital crimes in the Bible).

American Vision’s Joel McDurmon responded to these criticisms by denying that Reconstructionists have promoted coercive means.[13]

I would suggest you do some research on Ted Cruz before you compare him to “community organizer”.Also I don't remember Lincoln or a score of founding fathers or Eisenhower more recently being a governor!!!

6 months or so it was revealed that ****40%**** of American evangelicals do.not.vote.at.all.

We were all staggered by that statistic... looks like we might be capturing that heretofore passive chunk of the electorate, and this is as terrifying to the Left as the hispanics throwing their support to Cruz. Cruz can persuade multi-millions off the couch, giving these two demographics something to vote FOR.

Of course the Left is going after him. But the people who will be affected by the attacks were never going to vote for him in the first place, so no net for the RATS.

Dems don’t like him using their own tactics. Had a Dem said something to that effect they might have raised their head for a second then gone straight back into their cell phones without saying a word

On the other hand, I wonder how Christians in Israel are treated? Can they worship openly? Can they proselytize without threats to their safety? True, I was dismayed when I saw the clip of how they responded to Sen. Cruz and I thought the whole thing was a set-up by muslims. I am just confused by the whole episode.

Middle Eastern Christians have no greater friend than the French at the moment. Prove me wrong!

So Cruz was wrong to state that Israel is a better friend to Christians than Muslims?

That's not what he said. Cruz' statement implies that the state of Israel is the great protector of Middle East Christians - which is obviously untrue. Israel is not in a position to do much of anything for persecuted minorities in neighboring countries, even if it were so inclined.

The difference being that Ted Cruz is a man of actual accomplishment. He had a job prior to being in the Senate. He was a damn fine Associate Federal Prosecutor. He was solicitor general of the state of Texas. He spent several years of very successful private legal practice prior to running for Senate. When he did run for Senate he was a dark horse candidate that didn't use sealed legal documents about personal divorce hearings to embarrass and force out his opponents in his primary or general election run.

He speaks directly, candidly and well on Conservative issues without the need of a teleprompter. Something far too few Republicans seem capable of. Also he was an Adjunct Professor teaching Supreme Court Litigation. A little better than intro to Con Law that a vaunted "AP" part time lecturer so effectively used to make people believe he had a clue about the Constitution. The biggest thing is He is a Conservative!

George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Dwight D. Eisenhower had little or no political experience before becoming president, and they turned out to be pretty good chief executives, wouldn’t you say? It’s what they believe in and the vision they have to lead the nation that counts. There are plenty of experienced politicians out there I would never want to see in the White House, so your premise that experience matters before assuming the presidency is not always true.

the author of this editorial doesn’t even try to hide his anti-Semitism.

the very idea that such a distorted/falsified editorial could even be published....shows that Christianity in USA is in serious, serious trouble

despite the best efforts of many of our churches (of various denominations), priests and pastors.... we have a terrible Satanic fever on the loose (remember the Democratic convention where they actually booed America and Israel?)...

so we got the current administration. the haters (including such as Pelosi, Sharpton, and many more) are having their way

will we be able to cure this awful sickness? Has there ever been a nation that successfully reversed such a cancer within its society and body politic?

Yes. I enjoy a good rant or a good pan more than most people, but I can’t stand sneering condescension. Whatever point this writer is trying to make should have been expressed in a more sober tone if he wants people to learn about it.

Can’t tell what this author’s bias is journalists never allow a biography on line.

No idea where he went to school where he is from

Nothing but we’re supposed to read his critique

These people were not Muslim. They were anti Semites calling themselves Christians.

That’s all

Cruz figured early on he was wasting his time with these hateful liars

Anyone thinking he’s going to get through the next two years wthout getting hammered every time he speaks to a crowd is in for a shock

It’s going to be brutal

But this was nothing more than a bunch of haters
