A federal appeals court in Chicago Friday reinstated for now Wisconsin's voter ID law hours after the three-judge panel heard arguments on the subject.
The move by the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals clears the way for the state to implement the law for the Nov. 4 election, though it does not stop the ongoing appeal over whether the measure is unconstitutional.
"The state of Wisconsin may, if it wishes (and if it is appropriate under rules of state law), enforce the photo ID requirement in this November's elections," the unsigned two-page order reads.
The appellate court said Friday that it was satisfied by changes imposed on the law by the Wisconsin Supreme Court in a separate decision earlier this year.

this will put the liberals panties in a bunch.
It sure has the comment section at JS Online is gong wild. LOL!!!
Heads exploding all over Milwaukee and Dane Counties.
The resolution is simple:
The election judge simply asks, do you intend to vote in the state-wide election for State specific offices?
If the answer is yes, ID must be presented. State election process is the prerogative of the State.
bump
What will they do with all those extra ballot boxes containing pre-marked ballots stashed in car trunks all across the state?
WOW! PING!
You dont need a photo ID to vote, but you do need one to buy alcohol and cigarettes.
Despite what the left has said in the debate over Voter ID laws, its pretty clear that you need a photo ID to do pretty much anything, and The Washington Examiner has put together a long list.
You need one to open a bank account, or to apply for a job to fill that bank account.
You also need an ID to file for unemployment, and to apply for welfare, and Medicaid, and food stamps.
You need a photo ID to apply for Social Security
And to buy a home, and apply for a mortgage, or to rent a home.
You need a photo ID to drive a car, you need one to buy a new car, to buy a used car, heck, you even need one to rent a car.
You need a photo ID to get on an airplane, and you need one to get married, and you need one to check into a hotel room for your honeymoon.
You need a photo ID to buy a gun, and to apply for a hunting license and a fishing license, and even to adopt a pet.
You need a photo ID to pick up a prescription, you need one to buy certain kinds of cold medicine, and you need one to donate blood.
You need a photo ID to enter a casino, and you need one to buy lottery tickets.
You need one to buy a video game thats rated M for Mature, and you need one to see a movie rated NC-17.
You need a photo ID to buy a cell phone and apply for a coverage plan and, in perhaps the greatest irony of the entire Voter ID debate, you need a photo ID to hold a rally or protest, such as a rally or protest against requiring a photo ID to vote.
AND NOW, IN WISCONSIN, YOU NEED ONE TO VOTE! FINALLY! :)
I had to show a photo ID to buy a bus ticket between Nashua NH and Logan Airport last month.
Wow.
It would be an interesting exercise to compare vote totals and results by district from this coming election to a previous election.
Finally, judges with brains!
Although the law now requires voter ID, I have no doubt there will be MANY who will fraudulently cast their many illegal ballots. How about also using purple ink of the index finger?
Only a few areas you’ll have to do it in:
Milwaukee
Kenosha
Racine
Madison
IL union voters will have to stay in their own State now.
Federal appeals panel REINSTATES Wisconsin’s Voter ID law.
I have lived here 27 years. Voter ID has been passed by both the Legislature and by voter referendum at least 3 times during that period, and this is the first time it has been upheld. The Looney Left and the League of Women Voters have used the most bogus of excuses to overturn it each time.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Thank you Diana, for the ping. I caught this news on the crawl on Fox and immediately went to FR because I knew I’d find a story here about it.
I can’t believe it.
No way.
I didn’t hear any libtard head’s exploding from my house 15 miles from Madistan.
What will they do with all those extra ballot boxes containing pre-marked ballots stashed in car trunks all across the state?...It’s supposed to be a long, cold winter, especially up there.
Why does it take a panel of judges to figure out that it’s illegal to let illegals vote?
dems require photo id to get into their own conventions.
banks require photo id.
blacks (and everyone else) buying liqour anywhere, require photo id.
blacks, driving their cars, require photo id - a license.
blacks, and everyone else, wanting any utility service where they live, require a photo id.
blacks, and anyone else, going into a federal building, require photo id.
blacks, and everyone else, flying anywhere, require photo id.
it is hardly a burden on blacks.
I remember a story where in a black church the pastor was asking people if they had id to vote. almost all of them raised their hand, the whole congregation raised their hands.
they have photo id.
this is all about them not being able to flood the election results with phony ballots, or just bus people in from chicago and locally and pretend to be people they aren’t because now they’ll have to show id.
it happens in green bay, madistan, and in my county, milwaukee. and they are pissed they are not going to be able to do it so easily
Stopping the fat- ass union pigs from voting five or ten times is significant. The next step is to form vigilance committees.
when the penalty for casting an illegal vote matches the seriousness of the crime...and only then, will liberals take this to heart. A mandatory 10 years without possibility of parole should get their attention and a life long prohibition from voting would be frosting on the cake.
