Six kids from the block where Michael Brown was killed tell the truth about race with some humor in video.
Six kids from Ferguson, Missouri, where Michael Brown was shot and killed, have something to say about the state of racism in a humorous video called "Hey White People: A Kinda Awkward Note to America by #Ferguson Kids" created by the T-shirt company FCKH8.com.
"Sometimes white people are like, 'But is racism still a thing?' Spoiler alert: Duh. Just because Beyoncé is on your playlist and you voted for Obama, doesn't mean that our generation has seen the end of racist drama," they say in a series of clips.
"All this focus on race makes me uncomfortable. Uncomfortable? Try being Black," the smart kids continue. They then run down facts about racial disparities in America — from stop-and-frisk numbers to employment discrimination.
"Do you know that employers don't even need to see the color of our skin for the discrimination to begin?" one girl said. "Resumes with Black sounding names, like Tenisha or Tyrone, are 50 percent less likely to get called in for a job interview than the exact same resume with white-sounding names."
The video also had some humorous parts. "Some of my best friends are Black," says one boy. Another boy claps his hands in applause at the fact. "You get a cookie," one of the smallest kids says and holds the reward up to the screen.
During the video, the kids wear T-shirts that declare, "Racism is not over, but I'm over racism."
The video is promoting a fundraiser for five different anti-racism causes. For every tee or hoodie sold, $5 will be donated to organizations fighting to make change, the website states.
Two days before he was set to begin college, Michael Brown, 18, was killed Aug. 9 by Darren Wilson, a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer. The tragic death has brought the issue of police brutality back to the nation's attention. The city of Ferguson has erupted in protests and cries for justice for the teen.
Just keep picking, picking, picking at the scab and it’ll get better.
These people offer nothing. Nothing but their attitude of having been wronged many generations ago. Those from who they wish to evince sympathy owe them nothing and if they are anything like me (a long shot) are getting really, really bored with this game.
What are ordinary white people supposed to do with them. Understand them more? Listen to the same old rabble rousers spewing the same old chestnuts they’ve been spouting for decades now?
If I were an employer, why would I hire such a person? Someone who clearly has an attitude that if there is one little facial twitch I have or one little nosehair out of place, then they have the right to take out whatever piece of revenge based upon generations worth of racial hatred they think is valid in that moment? And I should hire them because if I happen to diss them in just the right way, they might come at me with a gun and stake the freedom they have by the grace of God for rest of their lives just to take out their little tantrum on me or my business? And whatever they can grab, hey, that’s OK, because slavery you know.
I am so completely done with these folks. I see no possible gain from getting involved with them in any way, and dozens of ways in which they can and do and will inflict harm and justify it. They are just useless whiners ready to commit whatever injury they might justify at any moment for whatever reason they might imagine. And the absolute last thing they will ever see is how their own actions generate and prolong whatever plight they see themselves in, and they couldn’t care less about any sort of insight I might be able to provide. They want, somebody else got, that’s all there is for them. What’s in it for me is less, far less than zero.

The lady who got me into it is a millionaire from it and she still has plenty of time for her family. My dad, who passed away not long after 9/11, told me that about the only people who had plenty to eat and nice things during the Great Depression were the successful salesmen and their families.

My white nephew was recently dating a beautiful, young, black lady. Almost all of our extended family has met her, and thought she was wonderful, a very nice fit for him. Things were going swimmingly for them until she introduced her grandmother to him at her family’s get-together. He said she was rude and condescending the whole afternoon towards him, the only white person there. Others in the family were fine at first, but then the piling on began. The two broke up soon after that. He said the visit was awful. He never saw it coming.

Romeo and Juliet, two opposing sides. That’s why you see so few interracial couples as you described. White females and black males, sure, almost an every day thing now, but the reverse? I’ve known only one such couple and I’ve lived more than five decades in six states.

Now,I wish this were true, but obviously it's not. The Racism Hustle Industry is just too lucrative.
I have a question for these kids: For every Black murdered by a White, 50 Blacks are murdered by Blacks. Does this mean that Blacks are racist against Blacks?

Isn’t it enough that I buy your groceries, now I have to listen to how unfair life is to YOU?
Culturally identifying names are a big detriment in this case.
Identifying yourself or your child as of the culture where
you are 80-90% likely to not have had a father in the house,
you are likely to have grown up in a house that didn’t value work or education,
you were raised in a culture prone to drugs, crime, violence and degeneracy
is probably not a good career move in getting a callback for an interview.
Yep. I'm thinking back through all of the C-level offices I've worked with. Plenty of diversity, both bathrooms, all colors of the rainbow.
Not a single LaTwana, LeShon, or Da'Banana among them. Plenty of Bobs, Toms, Helens, and Dianes, though.

It was not my first experience this way. A young bright supervisor of mine (black woman) was dating a nice looking white man. They became engaged after dating for several years, and now they are married (last April). So I think it might work sometimes. I remain hopeful, but my nephew will probably think twice the next time he thinks about dating another black woman. It was really kind of sad. We all thought they were a very nice couple. I’m just glad he got to know her family before he popped the question. It has saved everyone a bunch of heartache.

Ah, but I think it’s going to work both ways. Plus, you have to be registered beforehand to vote.
