I was on duty for 9/11 at an Air Traffic Control Center of the FAA. We had a new guy and it was his second day. He asked where he could get a cup of coffee so I took him upstairs to the Cafeteria. I was talking to some software people watching a tower on fire in New York City when the second plane hit the second tower. An Air Traffic Controller walked out talking to himself saying “How could he hit the tower with 15 mile visibility”? I went down stairs and turned on the TV and told the guys to forget what they had planned for the day. It was a long day and took quite a while before things got back to a new “normal”.

Hai! Old boss called me and asked if I’d like to stop by. I went on a short biz flight up to Jackson Hole - flew as FO up and PIC on the way back. He signed me off on the Citation again so that’ll help on the job hunt.

I just returned home from a “Birthday Diner” with my Grand-daughter and her family. She was 13 years old today. I remembered a conversation I had with a new “Grandma” at the hospital nursery, while admiring all those newborn babies... She turned to me and said “ It’s sad to think of what a world those children enter” . I had to agree...
