Panera Bread is asking customers not to bring guns into its restaurants. The request places it on a growing list of companies asking guests to refrain from toting firearms into their locations amid an ongoing nationwide debate about gun policy.

Of course, this being the case, since there is nothing preventing concealed or open carry, guests should feel free to carry concealed or open carry.
In other words, their request is meaningless.
And even more so, gun owners should be sure to carry when they visit their restaurants. And since some sniveling, pimply-faced young manager might demand they disarm, they can simply say that they do not cede their civil rights upon request, any more than if they were being asked to leave because of the color of their skin.
“I do not cede my civil rights on request, any more than if you were asking me to leave because of the color of my skin.”
I think I’ll avoid Panera Bread.
It should be common sense about where you openly carry a gun. But seeing how people get massacred with guns everywhere from schools to miitary bases, I don’t think a lot of people feel safe in public anymore.
I don't carry because of what might happen in your wussy little establishment. It's about what might happen when I'm traveling to and from your wussy little establishemtn.
Sincerely,
Not a Wuss.
Yup. They are right next to those "First Amendment Free Speech Zones."
What’s stupid is that they publicly announced this. Now some psycho isn’t hopefully hearing this message.
I’m sure MDA will imply to their sheep that guns are now banned, just like they did with Target, only to have some sheep start to realize nothing changed.
Remember Luby’s in Killeen, TX.
Never been to a Panera’s and don’t intend to now.
Uhm...I wonder if robberies will increase in Panera Bread stores...oh well, I won’ be there to find out...
I mellow out in my house all the time...and I have lots of weapons! (which is why I can mellow out!)
Ditto on that....
Maybe they can ask those other restaurants that “requested” people leave guns at home, then started getting robbed.
Businesses that don’t want patrons defending themselves when the occasion arises, become targets for killers, thieves and nhugs. Patrons should go where they are allowed to protect themselves.
I guess Panera bread doesn’t want the business of people who carry. Isn’t that as discriminatory as not baking a weeding cake for a gay couple?
We are a ream - I go where my gun goes. Otherwise I ain’t goin’
Gun owners ask Panera to stop selling frozen/pre-packaged food/bread, while calling it fresh.
FReeped
I think I’ll stand in front of the local Panera with a sign that says “Gun Free Zone”, just to help them advertise.
So they don’t plan to advertise this new policy, they’re not putting up “Defenseless Victim Zone” signs, they’re following local law, and they’re barring their employees from enforcing this new policy. Essentially it’s status quo ante.
I’m confused. Does this actually qualify it as being an anti-gun restaurant? I’m curious because I’ve gone to Panera a couple times in the last month, and always with at least one concealed “friend.”
Well since they are only asking that customers not bring guns I don’t see what the fuss is about. Now if they prohibited guns then I would refuse to go there.
I agree. I ate there once and never went back. I guess they're okay if you like sandwiches made of chewy bread with little else.
