S. Truett Cathy, the billionaire founder of the privately held Chick-fil-A restaurant chain that famously closes on Sundays but also drew unwanted attention on gay marriage in recent years because of his familys conservative views, died early Monday, a company spokesman said. He was 93.
Chick-fil-A spokesman Mark Baldwin told The Associated Press that Cathy died at home surrounded by members of his family. Funeral plans had not yet been finalized, he said.

His son has had operational control of the company for a few years... not sure if that'll happen, at least in the short term.
God, thank you for his time here and for his witness.
Pray it stays the same. One of the best food and people restaurants left for me.
“drew unwanted attention on gay marriage “
That attention has resulted in every CFA outlet to be more successful than McDonalds.
CFA per store: $3.1 million.
McD’s per store: $2.6 million.
Wendy’s per store: $1.5 million.
On to his Eternal Reward. Thank you, Mr. Cathy.
And I’m sorry that as your family grieves the media is about to turn your funeral into a 24/7 hatefest, about nothing but “gay marriage”.
RIP to a good and decent man.
I know where I will be eating lunch today.
ESQUIRE REVIEW You can get a chicken sandwich anywhere, which may explain your low expectations. Boneless breast. Bun. Blah. But down south, there lives an eye-opener.
A come-to-Jesus sandwich. The Chick-fil-A. Seasoned, breaded breast served on a toasted buttered bun with dill- pickle slices. No mayo. No sauce at all. Deceptively simple, yet transcendent. The hook is the breading: spicy, with an intoxicating crunch.
The meat is always juicy, never chewy. The bun is like lingerie -- there, but not, providing delicious support without obscuring the main flavor. The first bite changes everything you think you know about chicken. And about the need for condiments. -- Allison Glock

Here's your deluxe Chick-Filet-a sandwich:
w/ frilly lettuce leaf, vine-ripened tomato slices
cheese slice.
Add a side of hot, crisp waffle fries, large iced real
lemonade, couple containers of CFA's luscious
"special sauce....." and you got lunch.
>>>Now watch it be taken over by enlightened managers who want to make peace with the gay community.<<<
Probably even change the name from Chick-fil-it to Dude-fill-it.
May his soul and all the sols o the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
If we had one here, I’d go get myself a spicy chicken sandwich!
I don’t think so. Isn’t there family involved?
May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
RIP - Great Christian man. Great businessman. Great man.
Very sad to hear this. I was proud of CFA’s stand for Traditional Marriage and love to eat there.....
Amen. He was a man of God and a devout Christian.
Ditto. There’s nothing gay about it.
Yes he was!
The haters can go to hell for all I care....
It is the longest I've ever waited in any line for fast food. It was also the most courteous group of folks going in and out of any restaurant that I've ever seen.
Nope. His son Dan is at the heart of the so-called, media propped Gay controversy. He’ll be at the helm of CFA quite awhile.
