President Barack Obama at a news conference at the conclusion of the NATO Summit in Wales on Friday.
President Barack Obama on Friday said unequivocally that the extremist group calling itself the Islamic State must be dismantled, degraded, and "ultimately defeated," days after he earned criticism for saying the goal was to roll back the organization to a point it was "manageable."
"We are going to degrade and ultimately defeat ISIL, in the same way we went after Al Qaeda," Obama said Friday, later adding that "y ou can’t contain an organization [like ISIS]. The goal has to be to dismantle them."
Obama held a news conference Friday at the conclusion of the NATO Summit in Wales, touching on the crises in both Ukraine and Iraq. Obama echoed the words of Secretary of State John Kerry, who said Friday that the U.S. was committed to "destroying" the extremist group within three years as he announced a plan for an international coalition to confront the group in the Middle East.

IOW they will change their name AGAIN, fro Al Qaeda to ISIS to ISIL to Boy Scouts. Does he really think we don’t know ISIS is recycled Al Qaeda? Are we supposed to believe all AQ militants simultaneously decided to put down their arms and live peaceful lives and then ISIS cropped up out of nowhere?
It all depends on what IS IS.
Three years? We won WWII in 3 years.
Why not months or 3 weeks?
Really big bombing runs day after day, night after night, lotsa civilian collateral damage. Send a huge message to the Islamic world to never assist or harbor terrorists.
That strategy and tactics worked fine in the last war we seriously fought to win, and did—WWII.
All he really had to do was recycle his Tea Party speeches.
Because 3 years from now Obama will be retired...and no one can hold him accountable one bit!
Bi-"poll"-ar would be more like it. He must have seen his latest job approval ratings.
I would have liked to hear the word “ANNIHILATED”.

I’m extremely surprised my local station did not preempt Rush’s show for this news conference as they usually do - I imaging they were getting tired of the barrage of irate callers when they do this. At any rate, they did play an excerpt on the news. If he were any more laconic, he’d be dead. Unbelievable. But don’t get him started on the Republicans!!!
Someone hauled him back from his own stupidity and love for Islam again. Really hurts him to see his murderous coreligionists die. So he’ll put on a brave face and say aggressive words.
But what will he DO?
Yeah, like right after the first Tues in November.
He didn’t change his tune. He lied.

Obama’s got more tunes than a jukebox. He’ll change it for whatever crowd he’s playing.
