Toronto: Dan Rather Scandal Movie 'Truth' Gets Greenlight (Exclusive)

James Vanderbilt's Truth, the high-profile movie chronicling the scandal that derailed Dan Rather's career, has gotten the greenlight to begin shooting this fall.

Brett Ratner's RatPac Entertainment and Echo Lake Entertainment will finance the movie, starring Robert Redford as the iconic news anchor and Cate Blanchett as Mary Mapes, Rather's producer. At the same time, FilmNation has come aboard to represent international rights and will pre-sell the project to foreign buyers at the Toronto Film Festival, which kicks off Thursday night (based on the cast, it's sure to whet appetites).

Mythology Entertainment is the driving force behind Truth, which was first announced in July.

Based on Mapes' 2005 memoir Truth and Duty: The Press, the President, and the Privilege of Power, Truth centers on the on the firestorm and ensuing "Rathergate" scandal that erupted in September of 2004 after Rather reported that George W. Bush had received special treatment while serving in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War, a report that was based on some documents that were suspected to be forgeries.

This is why the leftists worked so hard all those years to gain control of the opinion-forming mechanisms: education, churches, newspapers, TV, movies, books, magazines, even editorial cartoons. So: one of their minions was caught falsifying a story intended to take down a Republican president. The situation was so clear-cut that she and her boss were both fired from CBS News. She responded by writing a dishonest, self-serving book attempting to justify their actions. The book was instantly accepted and sold aggressively by a major publisher - despite the author's complete lack of credibility. Now it becomes the basis for a major motion picture that will define how the clueless remember their slander and lies - as a heroic attempt to tell the truth that was silenced by hateful conservatives.

This needs to be an article. IMHO. Your voice is so clear cut. You have such a deep understanding of the left and their agitprop. You could be the face of the response to this film and you could damage them. But this perfectly lucid statement of truth is a spit in the ocean instead of being a bulwark against the tide.
