PERSEVERANCE
The idea of perseverance is an important component in athletics, the military, studies, and even in religion. Perseverance is the master key, the secret of success when you are in the middle of the struggle. It is that extra, the second air, the capacity to overcome the discouragement. Our society is making a lot of progress. We have technology and facilities that no one in history ever had before. The new generations can grow up today more healthy, and live longer. But we do have an Achilles' heel: the absence of the spirit of perseverance. A young man enthusiastically joined the military yesterday...he wants to resign today. A student goes to college with a lot of promises to herself; three months down the road, she withdraws from those studies. A couple got married today; a year later they file for divorce. The problem, as I see it, is that while we are helping the younger generation grow up, we are overprotecting them and making the journey too easy. We are not teaching them the important sense of perseverance, that attitude of sacrifice and consistency that every successful person has to maintain to reach their goals. The scriptures cover the importance of perseverance. It was Jesus who said, "Because of the increase of our wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved" (Matthew 24:12-13). We receive hope and courage through these words. It may be hard, but to love when others hate, make peace and justice when others cause fights and unhappiness, build when others destroy, is "standing firm". In every task, where we practice consistency and perseverance, we will see the good fruit of our sacrifice. And at the end of the final chapter of the book of our life, we will fully understand what Jesus meant through his words, "But he who stands firm to the end will be saved".

WTG, Lynn-Dah!!
The princess of the neighborhood. If she ever wanders away, all the kids will know her. LOL!
To: LUV W
Thank you.
She says she is fine....just a little sore. When she fell she hit the little trash can with her lip. She has a fat lip. She seems to be getting around ok. On my way home last night I got a bed rail. She’s not overjoyed, but I told her we can’t do this again...it stays! She talks and “yells” and laughs every night, but I don’t pay any attention unless the words are intelligible. Then I go check.

Indeed...sometimes ya just have to be strong for her sake...though I’m sure it kills you at the same time.
I’m glad it was “only” a fat lip! Lips heal quickly...broken bones do not!
Hang in there! (((hugs)))

In her later years, my sweet little grandmother saw ‘dead people” and had long conversations with them as they “sat on her bed”.
Creeped me out at the time. She lived waaaaay out in the country and it was really dark at night. ~~~shudder~~~

When I can understand the words, she is usually telling my Dad to, "Get away from there. Leave the mirror alone", or other things. She has me check for fingerprints on the mirror. They talk sometimes.
Maybe because today, 8/31, is their 71st wedding anniversary. They started dating in junior high and never dated anyone else. She was 18 when they married.

What a lovely couple they were! 71 years would have been a good long time for anyone!
