Twice in the past 30 minutes, when executing a link to one of the FreeRepublic posts, Firefox sent me a warning page that the "site" I was going to was a malware threat.
In more detail, the notice explained that it gets that threat info from Google, and that FreeRepublic had been identified as a "malware" threat.
Who knows if some troll got p-o'd or if WH trolls are involved in having set up the threat notice at Google.
I don't know what the mods can do.
11.0.11
One last thing. Firefox had no previous cookies present when I did the Google search. It is configured to erase all the cookies after being closed and I don’t normally use Firefox so there isn’t much of trail there. I only use it for development purposes. So Google had no direct information about my browsing/searches/ads history. They did have the browser headers and my cable modem’s IP address but there are many machines behind my NAT router sharing the same public IP address.
Had issues with malware just the other day possible from alink on freerepublic, bitch getting rid of it had to restore to a later date just saying
I saw the red screen of it earlier - words to the effect that attackers of FR are trying to introduce malware and a convenient button that says “Back to Safety”. I assume the button will be the key that opens one’s computer to the malaware ...I just closed the tab and moved on so I don’t know what even brought it - it seemed to me that it was an unclicked tab popping up becaue I got all the pages I tried to view.
Not so sure - I saw the same deal with Chrome vs. Firefox. Looks like a ploy to get one to click a button labeled "Back to Safety" in order to allow their computer to be compromised.
Good Morning!
23.0.1522.77 - Opera is up to date
I did the search for “FreeRepublic WH Responds to Petition to Demand Release of Marine Held in Mexico” using both Bing and Google.
Bing brings me right to the thread.
Google blocks the thread, forcing the user to manually copy the address and go.
As DB was pointing out, and another poster pointed out, there was something offending in that thread, probably an image linked from a bad site, therefore Google flagged our site as bad.
I tried another article: BORDER PATROL AGENT FIRES AT ARMED MILITIA MEMBER. Bing didn’t find it, but Google allowed it to be opened without issue.
Good job. So in less than 30 minutes and at 1:45am the issue is dealt with by the owner. Do you ever sleep?!
Some people may say I'm a tech. Well, I'm here to tell you that I'm NOT a tech.
LOL ... Thank You for not humiliating me with a picture of zer0.

Turns out it was just another gift from the esteemed "new media".. some scumsucking blogger.
I get that too, also on Drudge, The Blaze & Breibart. I noticed started this summer and only on my android phone. I believe something is going on.
Same thing appeared on my screen yesterday when I was reading a posting’s replies and clicked on the link to go to subsequent comment pages. I got out of it by refreshing FR all together but I thought it strange at the time that one of FR own posting pages contained a threat of malware. I thought it was just a glitch in the link at the time but didn’t think much about it until I read this posting.
Maybe someone on the left doesn’t like us. Or maybe the Russian mafia hacked us.
I performed the same search on Pale Moon, using ixquick search engine, no problem, so I went to google and FR link did not even show up, lots of links to Mediaite, The Blaze, Facebook, but no FR.
This is the first time I've used google in well over a year.
Lynx!
Got a copy on my Thumb drive.
I use it occasionally and it has never failed!
I hate the ads and a pop-up at Youtube? Never saw one, must be a trojan or something. Sort of like if you get a pop-up ad here, it ain’t from here.
“Turn it off in your browser prefs (under security usually). Someone posted a malware link at post #4 of that thread, and a mod has since deleted the post....Googles list hasnt caught up, or may not ever catch-up/update.”
No I leave it turned on, and when I wind up clicking, out of interest, on a link to some site I know nothing of, my investigations have shown it to be useful on occasion.
So, in general it’s O.K.
And, I was/am able to, when my questioning or investigation determines I can without great harm tell the “warning page” to take me to the “threatening” link anyway - as I did - after a few warnings, with the FreeRepublic links, when I am on a site I trust.
My concern in it all was only to find what was amiss here in FreeRepublic that caused the warning to come up, to get that cause identified & dispel any thought that Google or someone was just “conspiring” against FreeRepublic by wrongly getting it listed as a “threat”.
Thank you.
Saw another one at Youtube not five minutes ago asking to scan 'puter and update drivers. This one popped up where the video was to be played. The one last night was upper right hand side.
