I remember all of their work from that time. My younger brother put a lot of it on reel to reel tape - erasing the Deutsche Grammaphon recording - Berlin Philharmonic - Karajan - of the Nine Beethoven Symphonies I recorded off the air from WGMS on Beethoven's birthday, 1965.
After some years of alienation, we have reconciled.

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Some things are unforgivable. When a certain line is crossed, it cannot be uncrossed. You are very forgiving.

#31 The Cyrkle: Turn-Down DayTheir first hit, Red Rubber Ball, was a song that Paul Simon had essentially given away. These guys were from the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, and John Lennon had given them the unique spelling of their name. In the years to come, two of the musicians would write the Plop Plop Fizz Fizz jingle for Alka-Seltzer, and one would write the Swanson Foods commercial, the Continental Airlines commercial and the 7-Up Uncola commercial. There is life after pop music.

At least it was Simon and Garfunkel rather than something depraved.
Had to cut him some slack - he had to deal with me as an older brother.

#1 The Lovin Spoonful: Summer in the CityAs a rule, C minor is considered a piano key, not a guitar key. The intro is riveting and just grabs your attention. This was to be the biggest hit for John Sebastians group, who came out of a mixture of blues and jug band music.

Thats it for tonight. Next week its 1967. Cue the Rockumentary theme!
