The U.S. government and society need to recognize the direct connections between continuing racial disparities in this country and the wrongs that gave rise to them.
... One of the most important aspects of successful transitional justice, therefore, lies in illuminating not only the victims suffering, but the ways in which an entire society continues to bear the burdens of history. This helps elevate an important point: correcting injustice may require affirmative steps. The U.S. government and society need to recognize and educate citizens on the direct connections between continuing racial disparities in this country and the wrongs that gave rise to them, and to talk far more about the responsibilities we all share for repairing the damage. Perhaps Ferguson which has revealed what can happen when we suppress these conversations will finally motivate us to think about how to address the harms, whether through material reparations or otherwise. If were willing to start talking, well find no shortage of role models for transitional justice throughout the world to help us take the next steps.

REPATRIATE them back to Africa. That is the only way to avoid another Ferguson.
Reparations paid in blood and lives back in 1861-1865. 700,000 dead. One dead for every 5 slaves freed. Others gave arms, legs, eyes.
Or cause it.
Nope. I'm talking absolute numbers. Your talking proportions.
We're both right. A disproportionate share of the black population is on welfare. But over 50% of the welfare recipients are white.
Saw the headline, and boom, my head exploded. Don’t even know how i am typing this
They’re pretty slavish about enforcing it too...
I’m Jewish and from a Holocaust destroyed family (Lemberg/Lvov/Auschwitz/Belzec). I don’t get reparations from the Germans and never have tried to apply for them. That would have applied to my late grandmother and her brother who got to America earlier in the century, not me.
The Holocaust occurred during my lifetime. Slavery did not and none of my ancestors were even in America during that period of time. I bear no guilt for what was done back then.
My job is to see that racial discrimination, among other forms of discrimination, is not institutionalized. If somebody doesn’t like someone for any variety of reasons, so be it. I can’t change their minds, if they have any.
White guilt, as exemplified by Cooper, is like a pair of handcuffs on the mind. You are never freed of them and you’ll need to continually pay and pay and pay for something you didn’t do.
Screw that. If Cooper wants to pony-up her money and give it to Al the Charlatan Sharpton, Jesse the Ambulance Adulterer Jackson, and Eric “Mr. Reparations I Hate White People Holder”, let her do so.
In Yiddish we have a word for guilt-ridden Jewish fools like her - SCHMUCK! Look it up in the dictionary. You’ll probably find her Cooper’s photo attached to its’ definition.
Belinda Cooper is too f**king stupid to be an idiot.
Reparations will initiate a tsunami of them parasitic bastards assuming room temperature.
Bingo! But let’s expand it to include any person residing within the borders of United States and its territories and receiving income from the US government is not allowed to vote.
If “reparations” worked, East St Louis would be as prosperous and low crime as Geneva Switzerland.
High pressure water cannons could prevent the next Ferguson.
Hoorah. Another liberal with another “justice.”
WHAT DO WE WANT?
TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE!
WHEN DO WE WANT IT?
NOW?
Blacks would not be happy with reparations. The BS will sill go on.
Insanity knows no bounds.
extortion
What a bunch of morons. Can’t assimilate one simple FACT, i.e. Michael Brown was a thug.
Have they considered using some type of GMO tech for the affirmative remediation?
Plus rims.
We have a welfare state that they primarily benefit from. Reparations have been paid many times over.
