This is exactly how this will play out:
The shutdown WILL occur on Oct 1. No noticeable effects for a while.
On or about October 15, Obama will pull the plug on the EBT cards and blame Republicans.
From October 15 - November 1st, increasing levels of riots will occur in major cities. The entire time, Obama and the Propaganda Corps (ABC NBC CBS CNN NYT) will blame it on the shutdown and on Republicans.
November 1st through 7th, Obama will demand Democrats get to the polls to restore government services.
Democrats will turn out in numbers never seen before on an off year.
Republicans will not take the Senate and will lose the House. Obama will keep importing Latinos at a breakneck speed from then on. There will be no threat of impeachment or limitation any more.
The coup will be complete.
Some people remark that the States administer EBT. True, but in 2013, during the government shutdown, the Feds were about ready to pull the plug on the states. Please note this letter:

I’m retracting my prediction. They apparently are doing two things on Capitol Hill:
1) Reining in Obama a little bit, and
2) Getting the Continuing Resolution through without hitch.
Frankly, I think the two are related. I earnestly believe Obama would loved to have engaged in the behavior I detailed, but it appears even the Democrats have had just about enough of his (feces).
A little reality may be showing them how bad the blood bath could be, if they don’t pretend a little between now and election day?
Could be. I was amazed when the Democrats actually reined Obama in on Executive Amnesty. I didn’t think a Malignant Megalomaniac like Obama *could* be reined in.

0bama’s handlers want to salvage something in the mid term elections. They put their fingers in the air and didn’t like the way the wind is blowing. Better to not make it worse, so 0bama’s teleprompter dialed down the rhetoric.
If his handler’s so chose, they still have time to blow it up though.
