The sad truth remains that 5% of FReepers support 100% of FR. Can you imagine what it would be like if we had 10% support? These things would wrap up in days, not months.
When I joined FR ten years ago, it was not uncommon to git 'er done in 7-10 days. It was less expensive 10 years ago, but, it really shouldn't take two months.
Not everybody can donate. I get that. But, I'm certain that we have some among the 95% that are FReeploading. Harsh words, but I know it's true.
Imagine no FR. No way to get the REAL news that affects us all. No pool of talent to ferret out the real truth. No ability to call BS when we see it.
The list goes on.
We need your help. We need new donors. We need new blood.
If you've never donated, give it a whirl. If you donate once in a while, try monthly donations. It's really painless.
Imagine a Freepathon that lasts days, not months.

Well, as I tried to ‘splain in my above “Disclamer,” it is easy to “twist off” (to use an Oil Patch term) when all one has is the printed word to stare at.
Since FReepers are known for getting right to the point, misunderstandings are very common on any FR thread that you choose to review. [ The Admin. Mods. must be the most patient of all FReepers!]
If more FReepers took a minute to realize that everybody is doing the best that they can, their bloodpressure would go down, LOL would return to their comments, and the ensuing flood of new donations would raise the written strength of all FREEPERS!
Point me to disclaimer. I think I saw it but have some support.

* The best means of conversation is eyeball to eyeball.
* Down the list is the telephone, where at least one can pick up clues of humor, sincerity or sarcasm.
* Way down the list in the written word, with pecious few clues of the intended meaning, greater probability of miss-interpretation, and the onset of the useless flame and blame downward spiral.

My sister got so pissed off at my my cousin she sent me the conversation.
I reviewed it and could see how it could be misconstrued.
I could also see how my cousin was being facetious.
I asked my sis if she had talked to my cousin. She had not and will not.

In America, 53 % are pulling the Wagon filled with the 47 % who pay no Personal Federal Income Taxes.
That is a far better % ratio than the 5 % who are pulling “The Wagon” filled with the 95 %.

The Admin. Mods are the most patient of all FReepers! I'll testify that is true. The Admin. Mods have dealt with me a few times and even told me they didn't have time for what I was raising a fuss about but they did so very kindly ... lol

Now, I realize inclusion on any of the published donor lists that on occasion appear on FReepathon threads is purely voluntary and that the absence of a name does not necessarily indicate that the non-named FReeper is a FReeploader but don't you think it would appear a bit odd for someone to state they have been loving FR since 1997 and yet be mysteriously absent (as your name is) from the published donor rolls?
You're not just a noisy opinionated FReeploader, are you?
You can easily clear up this possible misconception by clicking HERE and following the prompts. Answer 'yes' to the question of displaying your name on the donor list.

Obviously you haven't. If you love Free Republic, then you would contribute to it. Put up or shut up.
People who love Free Republic love the fact that the screen is not cluttered with Viagra ads and pop ups and all the miserable crap that jumps out at you at every other site. Further, when you take in advertising the companies that put their ads on your site basically own you. If people here say things that are politically correct (which is just about all of us all the time) then advertisers will not place ads and those that do would be the targets of boycotts.
If you love Free Republic, then stop being a Freeploader and pony up $5 a month. That's basically a Happy Meal at McDonalds.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I see posts like that is 'I bet he doesn't donate, just gripes.' So far when I have gotten fed up enough to reply to one of those types, I have never found their name on a donor list.
I always note that maybe they really do donate and choose to remain A. Non Emouse but since they are griping their absence from the donor lists is suspect. To remove all suspicion, click the supplied link...

Me, I'm going to write mean things about Chunga on my blog.
I had hoped to post a similar article yesterday, but events did not make it possible.
The original article I posted used the number of unique hits FR gets and compared it to the number of donors. Each unique hit is a separate person and each donor is a separate person. It turned out that only 5% of those who use Free Republic are donors.
My sense now is that there is a threshold of use that should signal to a person that they really are being negligent in support of a site that provides them the only opportunity of its kind: that of posting on a conservative forum, without annoying advertising, without annoying liberal moderators/posters/attack dogs, and without the necessity to hunt and peck to eventually find something you posted and perhaps if someone replied.
In my opinion — and this is regardless of a person’s resources for the most part — anyone who posts 3 threads or more in a quarter, and/or anyone who posts 30 posts or more in a quarter, and/or anyone who reads 90 posts or more in a quarter, then that person has an interest in Free Republic, and that demonstrated interest equates to an obligation to help pay. (I would, in fact, tell anyone with a handle, except in the first month of their membership, that they have an obligation to participate.)
Why do I say that those using the resources of FR above the levels I’ve mentioned have an obligation to help pay regardless of resources? Because their USING the site at that level says that they DO HAVE the resources to pay for computer, internet, and phone/satellite/broadband. They also have the time to sit down and burn WHILE discussing the issues of the day on Free Republic.
It’s a very rare person indeed who has those resources and has absolutely nothing left over, not even $5.
I’m beside myself with frustration at “conservative FreepLoaders.” I honestly believe that if we could have a face-to-face that they would own up to their obligation.
And for those with complaints about this, that, and the other. Their favorite idea has been resisted, their writings have been censored, their posts have been deleted — please rethink your objection in light of FR’s legal responsibilities and FR’s financial needs given that it takes in absolutely ZERO advertising.
FWIW, I’ve tried the last few months — and I don’t have a slow connection — to get on The Blaze, Breitbart, and others. Their ads have been so many, so intrusive, and so overwhelming that my relatively new computer, and relatively fast internet simply cannot get access with near the amount of time that keeps me interested. It has been SO BAD that I’ve simply left those sites and ignored those articles that I had wanted to read.
That is NOT the Free Republic experience. It is fast, smooth, and easily navigated. Why? Because donors fund it and not corporations.
My hat is off to Jim Robinson. This site is the mainstay of conservatism on the web. All those others are marginal, feeding off of true conservative discussion that takes place here and no place else with near the ease and clarity.
