(WASHINGTON) -- A third American hostage held by ISIS has been identified as a 26-year-old American woman who was kidnapped a year ago while doing humanitarian relief work in Syria. The terror group is demanding $6.6 million and the release of U.S. prisoners for the life of the young woman, who the family requested not be identified.
She is the third of at least four Americans who were known to be held by ISIS, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. American journalist James Foley was executed by the group in a video that appeared online last week. Another writer, Steven Sotloff, was seen alive but under duress in the same footage.
In addition to the multi-million dollar ransom, the terror group has also demanded that the U.S. release Aafia Siddiqui, an MIT-trained neuroscientist who was convicted by the U.S. in 2010 of trying to kill U.S. officials two years before, according to a supporter of Siddiqui who has been in contact with the hostages family.
Siddiquis release has been a regular demand of groups critical of U.S. policy in the Middle East and Southwest Asia, but on Monday, Siddiquis family spoke out through supporters to say they were very distraught Siddiquis name was invoked with the ransom request and sought to distance themselves from ISIS.
If the issue is true, we would like to state that our family does not have any connections to such groups or actions, reads a letter written by Siddiquis family. We believe in a struggle that is peaceful and dignified. Associating Aafias name with acts of violence is against everything we are struggling for.

We need to tell all these dumb $hit do gooders that they are on their own with their “humanitarian” efforts in the ME. We simply can’t allow them to become legitimate pawns in the dealings with ISIS or any other terrorist group over there.
I bet he gets kick backs.
She was kidnapped a year ago. There was a civil war going on a year ago. Who’s side was she on? Bashar al-Assad... or ISIS?
Not only will you be fighting terrorists but also our own DHS.
Don’t you know that you are not to take the law into your own hands but call the cops or DHS first when you detect a terrorist in your neighborhood?
You do not want to be branded a islamophobist, do you?
Man. I hate them both...and damn them both for making me feel this way!
Some muslims consider terrorism-related work as “humanitarian.” I don’t know what to think about American (?) women who go to active war zones in muslim countries. Stupid? Sympathizer? I don’t know.
I’m Jewish, that makes me an ipso-facto Islamophobist according to them so we can check that one off . . .
6.6 million is exactly 1/20th of the 132 million they asked for to ransom Foley. I think they’re trying to find the market clearing price.
DOJ will protect them with the Civil Righta law
We have their first cousins all over the US now with CAIR and all the others, and they are protected by the government. They are also using our courts against us.
They think over there is the same as here only they are poorer. No way as a woman would I go to one of those backward countries.
See if the truth comes out...she’s probably one of those Jihadi Janes and it is all a ruse.
What would Mohammed do?
Pay it
So what? Wouldn’t give them the time of day to even listen to what they want. Sorry.
Islamophobist, heck I would rather be called The Amazing Islamo-Casser-Rator, have knife will chop chop!
My costume would have a pig snot, and be slathered with bacon grease so I’m to slippery for IsIs to catch.
There was a time when no group or national faction would make such a threat and demand.
They knew that the USA and the world would hunt them like rabid dogs without ceasing and there would be no upside to such a threat.
Now,...crickets.
Time to ask Qatar & KSA to exercise their mighty influence on IS & get her released in one piece.
