(WASHINGTON) -- A third American hostage held by ISIS has been identified as a 26-year-old American woman who was kidnapped a year ago while doing humanitarian relief work in Syria. The terror group is demanding $6.6 million and the release of U.S. prisoners for the life of the young woman, who the family requested not be identified.
She is the third of at least four Americans who were known to be held by ISIS, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. American journalist James Foley was executed by the group in a video that appeared online last week. Another writer, Steven Sotloff, was seen alive but under duress in the same footage.
In addition to the multi-million dollar ransom, the terror group has also demanded that the U.S. release Aafia Siddiqui, an MIT-trained neuroscientist who was convicted by the U.S. in 2010 of trying to kill U.S. officials two years before, according to a supporter of Siddiqui who has been in contact with the hostages family.
Siddiquis release has been a regular demand of groups critical of U.S. policy in the Middle East and Southwest Asia, but on Monday, Siddiquis family spoke out through supporters to say they were very distraught Siddiquis name was invoked with the ransom request and sought to distance themselves from ISIS.
If the issue is true, we would like to state that our family does not have any connections to such groups or actions, reads a letter written by Siddiquis family. We believe in a struggle that is peaceful and dignified. Associating Aafias name with acts of violence is against everything we are struggling for.

I’m actually starting to look forward to these low-life’s coming to this country . . . then when we catch a few of them before the cops do . . .
Circumcision-plus, just to start.
Threatening a 26-year old female working as a humanitarian? Even Obama and Holder can’t screw this one up.
Hey Dan Rather, this is why you don’t offer to negotiate or pay ransoms to terrorist scum.
Even Obama and Holder cant screw this one up.
Want to bet?
She will likely be incredibly abused before they let her go, assuming they let her go.
You only pay ransom if you want to encourage more kidnappings.
Don't bet on it. It's what they do.
She was kidnapped a year ago... already been happening Im sure...
I’m not buying the non-identification part ... not with this administration.
She may very well have been on a humanitarian mission, poor soul .... but without knowing who she is and her history and how she got in Syria, which humanitarian group she was working with .... I take NOTHING this administration (and their lapdog media) says as true.
We don’t even know if this person exists.
This sounds too pat. There is a certain ‘un-truthiness’ to it.
indeed. They already are preparing the ground favorably with the cops for themselves like coward tattle tale little brats. All that hate crime legislation, many cops believe it.
I don’t get it why people think they need to go to $hit hole countries to do humanitarian work... Dang, there is more than enough to go around within the boundries of this nation.
MFO
Send $6.6M in ordinance instead.
No ransom paid to terrorists, EVER! They get you or me or our kids, we/they are just as good as dead anyway.
Nuke the Ka’aba. Martyr ever male Muslim over ten years of age. < /angry rant >
Why do they call it kidnapping when neither a kid or napping is involved?
I argue that point every time I hear someone asking for money to sponsor a mission/humaitarian trip. Stay in your country and help those first.
Why 6.6 million? Is the extra $600,000 to off set taxes?
Hmmm... a woman captured by ISIS.
Better check with the ISIS Ministry of Troop Entertainment and Head Removal.
The ONE has already proved he will negotiate with and pay-off terroist thugs, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her get released too.
