Michael Brown's funeral: Hope, tears and a call for social change

St. Louis (CNN) -- The funeral of slain Ferguson, Missouri, teenager Michael Brown was a celebration of his life, a search for meaning in his death and a battle cry to change policing in America.

The Rev. Al Sharpton delivered one of two eulogies during the service, and he had sharp words for those who looted stores and rioted after the teenager was shot.

"You don't understand that Michael Brown does not want to be remembered for a riot. He wants to be remembered as the one that made America deal with how we're going to police in the United States."

Blacks should never be arrested for any crime whatsoever. They can accost, steal from, even murder white people and its perfectly legal. White people should hand over their possessions immediately. White people should keep working and being productive, but hand over all earnings.

When I was a little kid, my mom told me that if a policeman told me to do something, I should do it. I’ve lived my life that way. Why couldn’t Michael Brown and his friend just move from the middle of the street when asked to by the policeman? If he had, he’d still be alive. That one simple act of defiance is responsible for him being where he is.

She probably also would have told you while you were driving "Don't take that road; it leads to Ferguson." That bit of advice can also help keep people alive.

I agree. The police resisted the release of the video. It was released because of multiple requests from the media using the Freedom of Information Act. The video showed who MIchael Brown really was.

I believe that there is an evil vein running through the Black culture. This vein is given life by the illegal drug culture that employs black youths and involves the parents. It is an industry that brings untaxed money into the community. This money also corrupts city leaders and police departments. Notice that the push from all this racist cry is for a hands off policy by the police. The illegal drug industry would love a hands off policy. Then, the distribution network will operate unhindered complete with the violent turf wars and all of the collateral damage.
