Comrades, there are wreckers in our midst. The industrialist reactionaries at Burger King have declared their intention to abandon the struggle and join the ranks of the enemy in rightist Canada.
Thats right. The traitorous corporation Burger King plans to take advantage of the fact that Americas English-speaking neighbor to the north maintains the second-lowest corporate tax rate of any G-7 nation. How dare they?
The iconic American fast-food brand is in talks to buy coffee-and-donuts chain Tim Hortons and move its headquarters to Canada, Forbes reported. If concluded, this deal would create the worlds third-largest restaurant company and allow Burger King to take advantage of a tax inversion deal and relocate their headquarters to Canada.
Earlier this summer, the Obama administration threatened to use the power of executive action to limit the ability of American companies to avoid paying Americas corporate tax rate by, as the president said, renouncing their citizenship. According to Business Insiders Joe Weisenthal, Burger Kings move is a direct challenge to the White House.
So much for the theory that Treasury could chill future inversion deals by hinting of possible action, Potomac Researchs Greg Valliere told Weisenthal.
[T]he news gives Democrats another talking point, the Business Insider analyst wrote. The potential departure of an iconic American company because of corporate greed will be trotted out on the campaign trail.
Oh, we are well past denouncing corporate greed. The time has come for populist rage to hit the streets!

Everyone going to go after BK the way they did Walgreens?
It isn't the purpose of business to support the unreal fantasies of socialist governments, but to make a profit for their shareholders. The more business flee the oppressive US tax structre the better.
$2 billion unaccounted for in the Penagon. $2 billion unaccounted for in the US Dept. of Education (which isn’t needed as each state has one). And the gov’t expects us to keep dishing out our hard-earned cash for them to waste. Burger King apparently is fed-up. Me too.
RE: Everyone going to go after BK the way they did Walgreens?
We just ate at BK yesterday and shopped at Walgreens.
Nothing’s changed for us...
i would like the big mouth “corporate welfare” people to review this story, and come away with some form of education based on the example
nothing else has gotten through to you folks
read it
read it three times if you have to
I did not mean you, when I used the word “you” there.
I’m speaking to the people who decry “corporate welfare” non stop around here.
BK is owned by Brazilian investors (3G Capital). It isn’t an American company.
"And the (laws of economics) will outlast them all"
The laws of economics are immutable.
The solution is to reduce the corporate tax rate. No leftist would ever say or think that.
where is it’s headquarters now
do we benefit from that headquarters being moved to Canada
we’re doing something wrong when our corporations move offshore
Hold the Regulations,
Obamacare is strangulation,
They're gonna have it THEIR WAY for a change................

Funny you mentioned it. In Australia, they couldn;t register the business with the name ‘Burger King’ because an existing business already had the name long before they came to the country.
So they are known in Australia as HUNGRY JACKS, and they are as ubiquitous as MacDonald’s.
Good for them. The tax code is obscene.
Didn’t communist East Germany try this with a wall or something to keep their people from getting out to a better life?
Seems like Joe and Mika yearn for the good old days.
i like that
he’s also a great big anchor off our ship of state dragging on the ocean floor
the next president won’t have to do a thing to improve the business climate
just not attacking business day in and day out will help
it’s a perfect situation for another Reagan to come along
sadly, most of our guys are still making moves a democrat could slap them on the back for
hopefully one will emerge to lead from a Conservative vantage point
i am so tired of the guy who talks good for months or years, then does an about face and spews democrat principles from then on
