For a community gripped by the death of Michael Brown, residents here are prepared to not only mourn for the loss of the 18-year-old, but also to say goodbye to him in his funeral Monday and vow to never forget what his sacrifice has meant.
After more than two weeks of protests, political wrangling over investigations and swarms of media coverage from around the world, the Brown family will be laying their son to rest after he was shot dead in the middle of the street by a police officer on Aug. 9.
Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church is bracing for thousands expected to join the services Monday morning, where scores of Browns extended family are set to join for the closed casket ceremony, along with several celebrities and high-profile attendees. Despite the expected spectacle, church members here expressed warmth toward the Brown family and conveyed a sense of honor that they would choose the church as a place to say goodbye to the teen.
Were just so thankful here at Friendly that the Browns have decided to allow us to share in the honoring of their son, said Yashica Stimage, a member of the church.
Rev. Osagyefo Sekou has been out on W. Florissant Ave., the epicenter of the protests, nearly every day and every night to honor the slain teen. For Sekou, having Browns funeral at the first church where he previously served carries a heartfelt meaning....

Like all in the press, they're living in a bubble. Polls show either most support the cop or have a wait and see attitude about this. Same polls show most believe race relations have deteriorated under Hussein
Nevertheless, the media carries on with a narrative that has been debunked
Instead of incense, they will light Swisher Sweets. Mike would approve.
Excuse me. His sacrifice? He sacrificed his life for the opportunity to punch a cop?
Maybe they’ll use them as candles at the memorial.
His sacrifice????
Sacrifice????? Getting high and trying to wrestle a gun away from a cop, after robbing a store, is a sacrifice??? Where do they find these so-called journalists?
I for one mourn the rap videos this talented human being would have produced. I saw him possibly being another JayZ or Kanye West. Gone! All due to a racist cop that shot him too many times. One shot would have been enough. Like a few warning shots up in the air. Like the Mexican banditos do when they get drunk on tequila
The swishers will never be so sweet...
They are called “Reverend” because it gives them tax breaks.
Better get twelve, that was a big guy.
.....Yashica Stimage.....
Yashica? My father had a Yashica double lens reflex.
Rev. Osagyefo Sekou. is not from Africa. He was born in Arkansas.
Are you in favor of abortion?
and vow to never forget what his sacrifice has meant.

And if they truly remember the lesson of his sacrifice then robbery, stealing and law
breaking should decline in Ferguson. Staying away from those activities lessen
the chance of encounters with police.
If you shoot in the air, the round will come down and possibly injure an innocent yards or miles away. Warning shots should be fired into the ground, which won't be a problem unless you hit an underground natural gas line.
lol.... !!!!
what is sacrifice is mean HUH,’’This thug robbed a store, was on drugs, assaulted the store keeper, assaulted the cop, and his death caused riots and looting.
Now liberals want to make him a martyr ! What’s the betting we will also hear how those cops are too military and was out of control by the left.
