A coalition of Ferguson protesters met with reporters Friday to announce a list of demands related to the investigation of the shooting death of Michael Brown and to call for college students to participate in a national Walk Out from classes on Monday.
The group says it doesn't yet have a name, but those involved include members of the Organization for Black Struggle and Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment. Meetings are held at Greater St. Marks Missionary Church near Ferguson.
Taurean Russell of St. Louis said this is the first time the group has issued an official statement.
We are the core, and were mostly youth. We have demands, counter demands. Actions if demands are not met, Russell said.
The list includes:
A swift and impartial investigation by the Department of Justice into the Mike Brown shooting, and expanded DOJ investigation into civil rights violations across North St. Louis County. The immediate arrest of Officer Darren Wilson County prosecutor Bob McCulloch to stand down and allow special prosecutor to be appointed. The firing of Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson. Accountability for police practices and policies, including effective civilian review of shootings and allegations of misconduct. The immediate de-escalation of militarized policing of protestors to protect constitutional rights. The immediate release of individuals who have been arrested while attending a protest.
If demands are not met, Russell said his group would continue to protest. If Officer Wilson is not indicted, Russell says protestors will turn to boycotts and other walk outs.
We have nothing but time on our hands, Russell said. Were not going to stop until we get justice, not only for Mike Brown. For everybody, until the whole system understands that were people, and everyone needs equality.
Members said they are calling for college students to walk out of their classes on Monday in honor of Michael Brown.
Back in the '60s, they were blessed with the pleasure to exercise their rights by sitting in, said St. Louis rap artist and coalition member Tef Poe. We want to exercise our rights by calling for a walk out.
Yeah...they keep saying Brown was “unarmed”...well..No, he had 2 arms on him...and did a bit of damage prior to being disarmed!
We have nothing but time on our hands.
Idle hands, devil, yada, yada, yada.
Looks to me like Holder and Sharpton taught some folks about “Organizing” when he was there...sheesh...look at the names they’ve chosen...soooo creative/s
“2. The immediate arrest of Officer Darren Wilson”
Mr. Wilson, obviously having a normal IQ, has left the area and the coalition has demanded that the county prosecutor, the police chief, and the whole police department be fired in their list of demands. So, who as local representatives of the “people”, will have the authority to find, charge, and arrest officer Wilson for trial? Who is going to run the city, while this crisis is being resolved?
What a circus. Ferguson ain’t no city. Just a minority of losers sitting on their asses waiting for the next opportunity to march, loot, and destroy public and private property for their gain under the pretence of justice.
This condition is defined anarchy - a state of disorder due to absence or nonrecognition of authority.
Ferguson is leaderless and mired in a sea of political correctness and liberalism. Officer Wilson’s arrest won’t appease the Liberal Gods of Ferguson for very long. The Gods require more and more sacrifices. The heathens have made their list but it will not be enough.
Were not going to stop until we get justice, not only for Mike Brown.
....
I have the feeling he already received his justice.
Walk out of what, exactly? It’s not like they work.
Yet Another Black Racist Organization (YABRO).
Big flop.
Lol. In police work that acronym has a slightly different meaning.
Observed Behavioral Schizophrenia.
Common call for service.
We have nothing but time on our hands, Russell said.
I see the problem right there.
The walk-out will be as successful as the Day of rage
Noticed how they picked collage students as their the one ones likely to comply?
“We have nothing but time on our hands, Russell said.
I see the problem right there.”
Go figure, who has time to go ‘protest’ AKA loot & pillage instead of waiting for an orderly investigation as previously agreed upon in the written laws of Missouri?
Those of us working buy our own goods & services in trade for the economic value of those goods & services we provide. We don’t have time to get all worked up because the Missouri legal process isen’t producing the same results in same the time frame we may or may not want.
The is one thing any keen observer of Government knows: If it works at all it works slowly and expensively.
Theses largely democrat constituency seem to be expecting a cow to run like a horse.
They will only be happy if the white policeman is decapitated and his head is on a stick. Its not Justice—its revenge for real and imagined crimes against blacks.
