WASHINGTON -- Sarah Palin has lost the magic. The defeat of her choice Tuesday in a Republican Senate primary in her home state of Alaska capped a primary season in which her favored candidates have stumbled across the nation.
A referendum to restore Palins signature achievement from her time as Alaska governor, a state tax on oil companies, was also headed toward defeat following Tuesdays voting, dealing a double whammy loss to Palin in her home state and highlighting her declining influence.
Only four of the 15 congressional candidates endorsed by Palin nationwide this year have won their primaries, a far worse record than the previous two elections, when Palin played a role as kingmaker and her approval was eagerly sought by candidates looking for an edge with Republican voters.
Palin remains talented at raising money. But her influence on the actual political process is diminishing rapidly, said John Feehery, a Republican political consultant and former aide to GOP leadership in the House of Representatives.

Yeah, she’s so irrelevant now they’ve stopped writing about her.
They were both long shots. She had the guts to back them. She didn’t wait until she was sure they would win like RINOs do.
[ Yeah, shes so irrelevant now theyve stopped writing about her. ]
Yeah, pretty soon liberals will have to start charging her rent to live in their heads......
(sarcasm)
Just to show how wrong this guy is I will write her in in the next election
This was an endorsement based on principle. He was a long shot and everyone knew it. It says nothing about her “clout.”
I like Palin and think she makes a good legislator/leader but if she remains a TV personality and doesn’t run for office I see her political power diminishing.
Ping.
Oh, the establishment think they knocked her out. This was reported by one of those.
They can dream on. People would support her nationally. They are trying to write her legacy. If they would spent that much effort, in stopping democrats. Go, Palin!
She helped 4 get so elected with diminished clout? Not bad.
How many candidates that Obama endorses this fall will win in November?
if they would spend.....
sarah doesn’t seem to have any more political power than say ann coulter or michelle malkin . her function is to clearly lay out the conservative gospel
there are still true believers here but they are no longer the majority that once existed.
I’d think any candidate that thought BO was about to make an endorsement would run far and fast in the opposite direction.
The people who want Palin out of the political arena are the same people who insist the TEA Party is dead. Meh.
“Only four of the 15 congressional candidates endorsed by Palin nationwide this year have won their primaries....”
That is what happens when you have the guts that Sarah Palin has to pick the underdogs and stand behind the underdogs who stand for America and against the GOP Establishment.
This only proves that Sarah Palin is strong and the GOPe is weak.
Her clout has diminished by being a TV personality.
It might be different if she ran for office herself. I don’t blame her for not wanting to do so.
I think it is important to understand that sarah is not an old bag like hillary or the indian princess or the travis county drunk
sarah is young and time is on her political side
