Earlier Wednesday Mike Ditka made the news with his brash comments in favor of the Washington Redskins keeping their controversial nickname..
Now it's time to meet his polar opposite, at least as far as this issue is concerned.
Mike Carey, a recently hired rules analyst for CBS Sports, spent 19 seasons as an NFL referee but did not officiate a Redskins game for nearly all of the last eight years of his career.
That was by request because he disapproves of their name.

So... Is Mike Carey Indian (”Native American”), or is he just being offended for people he doesn’t think are smart enough to be offended for themselves?
I’ve still got that bridge in Brooklyn for sale.
Probably the latter. The vast majority of people speaking out on the issue of Indian nicknames are white liberals. Few if any actual Indians are speaking out on this issue.
Nope, he is African-American according to the article but has many friends who are Native Americans. But is such an open-minded, diverse and tolerant person, from his quote, he would be opposed even if he didn’t have friends who were Native Americans. I gather he wants the world to know he has friends of different heritages. What a guy.
Like the FAA control tower federal employees when Reagan took office... “fire ‘em”
>> he disapproves of their name.
Very mature, very objective... /s
Follow the money. There will be someone collecting a penalty and “redistributing your wealth” when liberals are involved. Notice that they never do it to their own just old white money. Kanye West, Snoop Dog, Jay Z, etc...won’t ever get touched because they’re liberal rich black men...

Put that boy out of a job...
Gimmie a break from these self righteous ignorant liberals
I asked a guy who declared he was anti-redskin tonight How old he was..... I then asked him why he wasn’t disgusted for the previous 25 years of his life.
...
He yielded:)
Manziel gave the Redskins the finger the other night. He should have said “I think their name is offensive and it just got to me.” He would have been named the starter.
Now, the perpetually offended (for those who they regard condescendingly as apparently unfit to be offended for themselves) have gone pro...
Being as I went to the University of North Dakota, I am still PO'd about it. Not just UND, but also Grand Forks Central High School, which used to be called the Redskins, bowed to PC, and changed their name to the Knights. The other high school, the Red River Rough Riders, never changed their name, even if other whites think it is racist against Teddy Roosevelt and his troops. It is a shame we have to deal with such scum sucking dirt bag idiots.
This was the from good old NCAA which is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.
I agree, especially when the name "Fighting Sioux" was in no way derogatory to a warrior culture.
What ticked me off even more was the ongoing waste of money and effort to fight a battle that never should have been.
Beyond that, there is the inherent denigration of an entire people found in the supposition that they need someone from outside their tribe to be offended for them, an implication that they are not competent to take offense when warranted. Now, THAT is demeaning.
Affirmative sir, it is.
