President Barack Obama said Wednesday that the U.S. won't back down from ISIS, the militant terror group that released a video Tuesday showing one of its militants beheading and American photojournalist.
'Today, the entire world is appalled by the brutal murder of Jim Foley by the terrorist group, ISIL,' said Obama, calling the group by the White House's preferred name.
'No just God would stand for what they did yesterday, and for what they do every single day,' he said.
'ISIL speaks for no religion,' he said, aiming his words at the Islamist faction that claims to have established a Muslim caliphate in portions of Syria and Iraq. 'Their victims are overwhelmingly Muslim, and no faith teaches people to massacre innocents.'
Foley stood 'in stark contrast' to his captors and executioners, he said, blaming them for a series of 'cowardly acts of violence.'
Americans 'are all heartbroken at their loss and join them in honoring Jim,' he said, somber but not wearing a necktie, as has been his practice during his extended family holiday.
Secretary of State John Kerry released a statement 90 minutes later, saying that Foley 'was brave and bold, and no masked coward can ever steal the legacy of this courageous American.'
Kerry noted that Foley had been held in captivity once before in Libya ultimately winning his release.
'The sheer unfairness and unlikely odds that this young journalist would again find himself in captivity in another conflict was almost unimaginable,' he said.
'It is impossible to express how much we all wanted this latest horror to end with his family reunited, as it had been the first time.'

“Obama vows...”
Then it’s certain he’ll do nothing.
So, one reporter’s life is worth more than the thousands of innocents they’ve raped, murdered, and forced to flee from their homes in their march across Iraq?
For what it’s worth, Taliban and ISIS are not the same, although it would not surprise if some Taliban decide on a quick trip to Iraq to learn strategy and tactics.
....then obama headed back to the golf course!!
Not unlike 9-11-2012 when he partied then punished those later that tried to rescue the nearly 4 dozen Americans under attack in Benghazi.
In short nothing will be done unless he is rained out on the golf course and is looking for a photo op.
I think Odumbo should send Holder over there to personally negotiate with ISIS!
This journalist was captured twice - once by Islamists in Libya and once by Islamists in Iraq.
When Obama usurped our White House Libya and Iraq were 2 of our chief allies in the war on terror.
Behold what the foreign enemy combatant in our White House was wrought!
Will the JV have to sit out the next game?
Reggie Love has seen Obama’s “Wrath” I don’t think he’s impressed
His "job" is to do nothing until his handlers adjust the spin to the random event. However, Barry is so fundamentally inept, he cannot do "nothing" very well.
I always think of him as a Jackie Robinson. Imagine if they had brought Jackie up and it was discovered he couldn't play baseball. That is what has happened to Team Obama. They simply cannot make him look good anymore. He just ain't any good.
Odumbo will ship over tons of signs for placement—”Beheading Free Zone”
What's he going to do... send a box set of his speeches?
By doing what exactly?? Going to a thesaurus to check out some more words he can use?
Oooooh, they’re quaking in their boots now.
Has he unfriended ISIS on Facebook yet?
Actions speak louder than words. No-bama's interpretation of the moon-god cult appears to differ from that of IS.
Ray Stevens bump. Outstanding.
LOL!!
Hey but he was ultimately responsible for the real killer finally going to jail, so at least you got to give him props for that.
Punish? What? Go to bed without dinner?
...he could send drones and kill all their goats...then they’d be left with their women...oh the horror...
Juar cool it, people. He means free throws and five-yard penalties.
I’m glad to come to FR just to see that other people do get it.
Still not much that we can do about it. It at least makes me feel better to share the humor here about these horrible things because feeling trapped and alone is no way to go through life. Still, I wonder how long we will be able to have this tiny corner of the world to connect with others who see what’s happening, too.
We would have needed mass media and education to counteract this. We can’t get ahold of it. No one with money is willing to help. If we can’t educate, we have no hope.
