Nice try, Chronicle.
You probably think that Obama actually earned his college degrees too.
If the people on this grand jury want to run their mouths to the media, then let Perry’s lawyers question them in front of the cameras.
Ha ha ha...best one of the week
there is nothing ‘grand ‘ about most grand juries , they are just their to rubber stamp whatever the prosecutors want to hand them , get the ball rolling for the state , money for the lawyers , to justify seizures
Good ol’ Rho just handed Perry a gift.
This indictment is transparently corrupt and all it serves to do is put the drunk DA back in the spot light for ridicule.
“Grand jurors deny politics played role in Perry indictment”
GREAT!!!
Then maybe THEY can also allow that Perry wasn’t playing politics in his actions EITHER!!!

Key words.
“But I guess that his side’s job to really spin it.”
Spoken like a hard core RAT
And WHY, exactly, is a member of the grand jury speaking to the press about secret proceedings?!

Thanks for the laugh, Austin Grand Jury!
Unfortunately, I have no idea who would be the authority that would file the contempt of court charges.
Leave it to the Houston Chronicle to turn a story of a completely outrageous political prosecution into a sob story about how mean old Rick Perry is picking on those poor, defenseless grand jurors. It even has a picture of Perry looking angry and aggressive.
Obviously the grand jurors don’t care about the law, since it is illegal for them to be talking to the press about grand jury proceedings.
Are they LIJ’s - low information jurors or LCCJ’s - low cranial capacity jurors?
If I recall, grand juries only hear the evidence presented by the prosecutor who is appearing in front of them for the explicit purpose of getting an indictment.
The defendant does not have an opportunity to provide evidence or tell his side of the story at that time.
One of the resident legal minds here at FR could no doubt give some better insight on the issue.
“The jury, which met weekly for four months, “really tried to keep an open mind and come to a fair decision given all the testimony that we heard,” said Janna Bessin, one of the 12 Travis County residents appointed to serve on the grand jury. “
Four Pinochio’s for that one. :-)
