The cops are probably thinking that, without the news crews there to give the rioters their forum, the rioters would be back to their usual evening activities by now.

As much as I hate militarized cops playing with their toys, it gives me great joy that they gassed Al-Jazzera. Too bad they didn’t have VX.

If the news crews went home then this crap would stop.

Reporters, no matter their political persuasion, are constitutionally protected.

Government thugs denying rights of assembly on the other hand...

This is impossible because the Cops are there to Protect and Serve.

Oh, who to root for?
Kind of makes me wish for an 'Anchorman' type rumble.

I think I'll go for the Gestapo police. The Media is a cancer to the Nation. The police don't hate the country, they are just conforming to nature.

If they will do it to Al Jazeera & these particular protestors, what makes anyone think they would not do it to conservative news media, tea partiers, etc?

They will, if/when given the opportunity.

Police are there to protect & serve -- those who already control everything. And those people are not us.

Gee, you don't suppose the rioters rebels might "enhance" their protesting with a film crew nearby?
And you don't suppose that the resulting video would ever be misrepresented by racists like Sharpton or looney-left cop haters?

This happened more than once in the LA Riots (Rodney King Riots).

The cops know that a news crew with bright lights blazing will attract a crowd, so they will demand “lights out and get back in the truck”. They don’t want any crowds or clusters of people that will lead to a crowd losing control.

In the LA case they usually ran up to the crew and made verbal demands. Tear gassing the crew takes this to new heights!

Did the cops demand that they leave, and the crew refused or ignored them?

I garauntee those JBT’s would never use that military hardware to protect a citizen or his property. All of those goodies are to protect themselves as they go out and play soldier. They are all on edge now becuase there is real danger instead of their normal diet of kicking in doors and dragging bewildered families out of their beds in the middle of the night.

If the gassed reporters worked for anyone other than AJ, would there even be a disucssion about who is in the wrong?

“A news crew, clearly no threat or impediment to the cops, “

STOP RIGHT THERE.

The website this comes from is a left wing website.

The cops were there dealing with some kind of criminal activity. Like chasing looters or reports of gunfire or houses broken into. They weren’t there to get a tan.

This news crew, unidentified btw, was likely asked several times to LEAVE THE AREA.

They had spotlights set up and aimed into the eyes of the cops, INTERFERING with the operation they were performing.
Notice that the first thing the cops did was gently lay down the spotlights. They took care not to damage anything.

The ‘news crew’ , especially the guy with the nice Muslim style beard, were endangering themselves, the public, and the police. Other ‘news crews’ have found that they must film discretely. This wasn’t discrete.

FOR ALL WE KNOW, this ‘alleged news crew’ could have been videoing directly to some website on the internet, giving all the rioters (for lack of a better word) a live picture of police activity at that location.

Don’t fall for this attempt by the left to further incite violence across the nation. Don’t fall for what may be coordinated criminal activity.

I’m convinced that any interaction I have with LE in the future will be tyrannical in nature. That having been said; in this case, they were obviously being very careful with the equipment, and were probably acting to protect these (scum sucking arrab) reporters.

Al Jazeera is not a “news crew.” They’re a pack of neo Nazis, spewing out lies and propaganda. Last week the Israelis shot at these pack of dogs. Even the Arabs shoot and kill these snakes.

News crew my butt.
