A news crew, clearly no threat or impediment to the cops, films from a verge in Ferguson, Missouri. A pop and a cloud of white smoke marks the arrival of a tear gas canister at their feet, and the newscrew is forced to flee.

The cops are probably thinking that, without the news crews there to give the rioters their forum, the rioters would be back to their usual evening activities by now.

As much as I hate militarized cops playing with their toys, it gives me great joy that they gassed Al-Jazzera. Too bad they didn’t have VX.

Reporters, no matter their political persuasion, are constitutionally protected.
Government thugs denying rights of assembly on the other hand...
To: MNDude
This is impossible because the Cops are there to Protect and Serve.

Oh, who to root for?
Kind of makes me wish for an 'Anchorman' type rumble.
I think I'll go for the Gestapo police. The Media is a cancer to the Nation. The police don't hate the country, they are just conforming to nature.

News crews are there to make it public so the Dems can get their base outraged, thus they get out the vote.
Sadly that seems lost on some on our side.
News crews go home and so would the thugs and scumbags.
Now we have Black panthers, Sharpton, homosexual groups and even the UN chiming in and pitting themselves against the cops.
Typical left wing , get people outraged with their selective outrage and then get the votes out for the up coming elections.

If they will do it to Al Jazeera & these particular protestors, what makes anyone think they would not do it to conservative news media, tea partiers, etc?
They will, if/when given the opportunity.
Police are there to protect & serve -- those who already control everything. And those people are not us.

Gee, you don't suppose the rioters rebels might "enhance" their protesting with a film crew nearby?
And you don't suppose that the resulting video would ever be misrepresented by racists like Sharpton or looney-left cop haters?

Left wing media getting tear gassed because they are promoting their left wing agenda and getting their base outraged.

This happened more than once in the LA Riots (Rodney King Riots).
The cops know that a news crew with bright lights blazing will attract a crowd, so they will demand “lights out and get back in the truck”. They don’t want any crowds or clusters of people that will lead to a crowd losing control.
In the LA case they usually ran up to the crew and made verbal demands. Tear gassing the crew takes this to new heights!
Did the cops demand that they leave, and the crew refused or ignored them?
