SAN FRANCISCO (AP) A hostage kidnapped during a Northern California bank robbery was killed by police in an ensuing chase and shootout, likely during a final gunbattle where the lone surviving suspect used her as a human shield, authorities said Monday.
The results of a preliminary ballistics report show that police in the city of Stockton fired the 10 bullets that struck Misty Holt-Singh, 41, and all her wounds likely came during a final burst of gunfire, Stockton Police Chief Eric Jones said at a news conference.

They hit her ten times? How many time was the kidnapper hit?
De-escalation is not what police are trained to do against active shooters. Quite the opposite in fact. Anybody remember the Columbine shootings? That was a de-escalation. It did not work out very well. A lot of things changed afterwards.
Once the bullets start to fly, the negotiations are done.
California’s only hope may be to renew their vigilante committees from the 19th century.
Back then a man using a woman as a human shield, and causing her to suffer and die from ten gunshot wounds, would be decorating a live oak tree as quick as it took to toss a rope over a live oak limb.
I see you're a CONFRONT AT ALL COSTS partisan.
One of these days, that mentality is going to cost someone dearly...
Sounds like you're telling us that police are trained like a pack of coon-hounds.
Only coon-hounds don't get issued guns...
The media won’t report this because the victim was white and after all, the perp did what Hamas does daily and the media has no issue with that
Unusual last name. If she worked for Chase, I think I may have talked to her.
Bank of the West.
Late 50's or early 60's.
It's actually pretty uncommon these days. More likely to be noticed when it happens however.
No - just reporting how police are really trained. It is not what you think (or wish) that it should be.
Resisting any armed criminal attack is going to cost someone dearly. So is not resisting.
I wish I had an answer to such problems.
The only ones crying about it would be the ones who are the greatest beneficiaries of the largesse of the Crimnel Jesters Systum. Can't go around killing their cash cow - the live thug in this case, for instance. Think of all the jobs and cash flowing through the system!
Our forebears knew what to do.
No, I’m saying that the wrong type of people are being drawn to LE these days.
More fools they, then. Their reactions can be predicted...
The cops are “pretty sure” they robbed this bank before. Everyone is ABSOLUTELY SURE an innocent woman is dead.
With all that shooting during the chase could not one “well trained” cop shoot out the tires?
I won't disagree with that.
On the other hand, we have to be careful of confrontational bias on here. I see too many people using this as a News source rather than a discussion forum.
If it isn’t sensational or controversial it’s most likely not to get posted here. I mean who posts stories about Cops that *didn’t* shoot dogs or colored men.
It’s sometimes hard to remember that what we read here is but a microcosm of the worst of the worst so to speak.
If the hostage had been a cop or a cop’s family member I’m sure they would have been just as quick to shoot.
*snort*
Three gang member bank robbers, armed to the teeth, including with semi-automatic long guns.
They took three hostages, all women.
They forced one to drive, but when the police started chasing them, they did not like her driving so shot her and pushed her out of the moving car. She survived.
The chase lasted a long time with the perps shooting a lot as they went. At some point they pushed a second woman out of the car. She too survived.
They were finally cornered and came out shooting...a lot. Not a situation you can deescalate when they are actively continuing to lay down heavy gunfire at the officers like that.
Lots of gunfire. One of the gang members pulled this last woman over the top of him as all the gunfire was happening. His two accomplices were killed. The last hostage was killed. The last gang member survived.
People trying to blame the police in this instance need to get the facts before they jump on the jack-boot band wagon. From all I can see that it totally unwarranted.
Like tying to blame Israel when Hamas uses its civilians to launch attacks from behind and they get killed in the cross fire. These officers were involved in a very serious situation that was endangering the community at large...which had to be topped.
The criminals forced this and are to blame...not he police.
Nice work there, Itchy!
