The governing body of one New Jersey town voted in favor of renaming the local Kennedy Center after the current White House head and calling it the Barack Obama Center and some residents arent exactly happy.
Philly.com reported that the renaming came at the request of Willingboro Township Mayor Jacqueline Jennings, after she recalled how the black population in the region reacted with excitement at the campaign and election of Mr. Obama.
I think that people have a sense of pride about him, she told Philly.com. We had so many new people register to vote, people who had never voted before, people who were disenfranchised.
All of a sudden, we had
people wrapping around the buildings when the polls opened. It was a sense of history. Everybody wanted to be a part of it.
But plenty of local residents are upset at the town councils name change.

In honor of two black leaders.I don't think Mugabe would like that, he hates Obama (thinks he's a fag).

Meh, one Democrat for another, whats the difference. That's my opinion too. The more quickly we move off of John Kennedy as some type of political saint, the better. And if the Dems want to replace him with this fool Obama, and it creates a Dem civil war in the process, all the better.

Libtards changing the name from one POS to another POS. What's the big deal about that?
Now if they change something from Reagan to Obama, THEN I'll get worked up!

Congrats on the move! We made it back to Texas 10 years ago - I miss a few things about PA but never intended to live anywhere other than here.

Maybe the city council should go all out and rename their town to “Obamaville”. And lots of similar towns as well.

Yeah, right. They renamed a Kennedy center after Obama. Sure.
Next they’ll be claiming he’s been given a nobel peace prize...

I heard there is a Barack Obama school, I believe in mostly black Prince Georges County, Maryland. I’m sure it pumps up the self esteem of the black students to attend that school.

I remember that King County in Washington State renamed the county after ML King a few years ago.
I heard a Jean Shepherd show on SW where he was talking baseball, and being a spokesman for a Mets advertiser, he would go to the games. At one, the local gub'mint types of the FL town where the Mets Wintered were there to announce the renaming of the local field to "Casey Stengal Park" or whatever.
Shepherd said Stengal took it in stride, knowing who the previous named individual, probably even knew him, and would be expecting his name to be dropped in a generation or two...

I wouldn't. It's not like it's going to be confused with this any time soon...

Just like renaming the 30th street station in Philly.
Folks don’t want the change.
Politicians thought it a capitol idea, and will proceed to change that with $$$ taxpayer money.

I started in Ohio, then went east, then back to Ohio and then Indiana, Minnesota and now South Dakota. I miss some people back in Indiana and Minnesota, but not that much!
Most of the Amish here, and there are very few, are at the air force base and they are pretty sedate.
