Speaker Boehner on U.S. Airstrikes in Iraq
House of Representatives ^ | Friday, August 8, 2014 | Speaker John Boehner

Posted on 08/08/2014 6:51:44 AM PDT by kristinn

WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today issued the following statement on U.S. operations in Iraq:

“The president’s authorization of airstrikes is appropriate, but like many Americans, I am dismayed by the ongoing absence of a strategy for countering the grave threat ISIS poses to the region. Vital national interests are at stake, yet the White House has remained disengaged despite warnings from Iraqi leaders, Congress, and even members of its own administration. Such parochial thinking only emboldens the enemy and squanders the sacrifices Americans have made. The president needs a long-term strategy – one that defines success as completing our mission, not keeping political promises – and he needs to build the support to sustain it. If the president is willing to put forward such a strategy, I am ready to listen and work with him. For now, I wish Godspeed to all our men and women participating in these operations.”

Isn't this the same Boehner who wanted to go into Syria in support of these same ISIS folks?

It is difficult to refer to "the same Boehner" as he's all over the place. What has to happen is the US has to admit its mistake and help Assad defeat these maniacs from their bases there.

How long will I have to wait for a DC pol or the media to come out and say the US created ISIS?

My question is why did we even go in the first place in the Gulf War?

So one Arab country attacked another, why was that our concern?

There is no one we should be supporting

We should be supporting governments that protect their minorities. They're the govs we've been working to overthrow.

We will have cobwebs on us before a Pol or Mediot admits that fact.

ISIS is 0b0z0’s crISIS. This is the child of 0cawad. It’s another offshoot of his Moslem Brotherhood buddies that 0b0z0 and McPain armed from Libya.

ISIS “children” will come through our borders and that will be what 0b0z0 created human crISIS.

This the chance to kill them ALL where they stand.

“My question is why did we even go in the first place in the Gulf War?”

Briefly, to stop evil from flourishing and being exported from the region. W did that, and BO is reversing what he did.

What evil? Kuwait is just as bad, they just put on a friendlier face, like the Saudis.

Iraq took over Kuwait and invaded parts of Saudi Arabia. It had an impact on the entire region including a global strategic commodity—oil—that affects the world economy. Our strategic national interests were at stake.

Only because we decided to be slaves to the Saudis, courtesy of their agents, like James Baker.

BS. The Saudis have been very helpful to us in many ways. And they just happen to be the world's biggest exporter of oil.

I spent five years in the Kingdom, including during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I also went up to Kuwait a few days after the war was over flying over and driving thru the burning oil fields. The idea that we should have allowed Saddam Hussein to takeover Kuwait is nonsense.

We should have taken the hint back in 73, to get away from the Saudis.

What do you think they do with all that money? They are the biggest financiers of international terrorism in the world. They are just real good at keeping their friends close and their enemies even closer.
