Heteronyms are technically heterophonic; the spelling is the same but the sound is different. Compare “desert” verb (to abandon; accent on second syllable) with “desert” noun (arid vegetation-free land; accent on first syllable).

The polls I’ve seen in the past phrase the question, “Have you ever had any same sex contact in your life?”
If yes = homosexual.
So a molested child, a drunk sorority chick making out with a sorority sister, etc. All ‘gay’ for life based on this definition.
Even with that they only get to 1.6%.

Can you imagine, so niggardly and homophones are a couple of words that will soon find themselves thrown out of the English language because they offend, even though they have specific meanings. So does "marriage".
