It's rather amazing how people blame "free markets" for things that are 180 degrees removed from "free markets".
For example, and in response to Political Greenwashing: US Exports Coal Pollution to Europe; What About China? reader Over Exposed writes "Excellent example of a complete and utter failure of the free market to deal with pollution".
I see and hear this every day. I would have hoped that people would have learned by now what a "free market" is and isn't.
Complete fools blame the "free market" for problems 100% caused precisely because we do not have "free markets".
Popular Myths
Contrary to popular myth, free market libertarians do not support slavery, anarchy, or pollution. Rather, we strongly believe in property rights and human rights. No one can own anyone else.
No one can kill you, steal your goods, or damage your property. Laws and regulations that protect property rights and prevent fraud are welcome.
It is amazing how people clamor for more regulation to cure problems caused by regulation and excessive interference in free markets.
Can We Please Try "Free Markets"?
We've tried everything else, and it did not work. Can we please try "free markets" with the minimum number of regulations and laws needed to preserve property rights, preserved human rights, and prevent fraud?
Sadly, I suspect the answer is no. Neither vested interests nor jackasses who have no idea what is really going on, want "free markets".
It's a powerful combination, and we all lose because of it.
“It is amazing how people clamor for more regulation to cure problems caused by regulation and excessive interference in free markets.”
The answer is that there simply isn’t enough regulation! Just allow the government to take a little bit more of your freedom and the world will be perfect.
It will be, for the people who control the government.
I have a libinlaw that flat out stated that in a free market, people make decisions that they shouldn’t be allowed to.
Free markets required hard work.
Ever since the phrase, ‘work smarter, not harder’ came into being, we’ve neglected fundamentals required to prosper. Right now we’re just festering.
Yep, liberals only claim to want freedom. What they really want is 100% control of everything and everyone.
Yeah, just like when to government creates a crisis like the housing bubble and then blame everyone else and spend billions and trillions to “fix it”.
There are no free markets. There is only government-linked corruption (all socialism), and there are the propagandists who support it.
Ignorance and lack of comprehension about economics, malevolent universe principle and malevolent sense of life, irrationality, and psychological abnormalities are among the main causes of unjustified beliefs about the economic world that lead to feelings of anger, guilt, and alienation that are all blamed on capitalism.
Free Market critics are some of the best comedians out there (though they’re still idiots). They never fail to demonstrate their complete lack of knowledge of the subject.
There are free markets and then there is Mr. Bush.
Let’s not forget the President who is responsible for hurricanes, floods and, of course, ingrown toe nails.
IMHO
yeah, I know
