When it comes to environmental regulation compliance, the Department of Homeland Security isnt playing as evidenced by a recent federal raid of a South Carolinians home to confiscate a Land Rover that violated EPA emission rules.
Jennifer Brinkley said she saw a line of law enforcement vehicles approaching her home and wondered what was wrong, the local WBTV reported. Homeland Security agents then went to her 1985 Land Rover Defender and lifted the hood.
They popped up the hood and looked at the Vehicle Identification Number and compared it with a piece of paper and then took the car with them, she said, WBTV reported.
...
Ms. Brinkley said on Fox News that she had spent considerable money ensuring her vehicle would pass inspection laws and that it was in compliance with emission rules.

But I bet they've already crushed it.
Why exactly is this a federal law enforcement case, again?
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
The DHS has become the administration’s go-to brown shirts.
I asked this on the other thread.
Who in their right mind pays 60 grand for a mid 1980s British vehicle?
Did it have rocker panels full of cocaine?
#French Connection
Ping.
That’s not the right question.
The question should be: WHY IS DHS INVOLVED IN A CIVIL CODE VIOLATION?................
Once your vehicle in New Jersey is 25 years old...
Historic vehicles
General inspections are not required for historic or collector vehicles. To be classified as a “historic vehicle” it must be:
At least 25 years old
Specially registered and display QQ plates
What is the DHS doing enforcing EPA rules? Am I missing something here? When did they become a new form of FBI or other federal police force? I thought they were supposed to defend us from terror threats.
One bureau to rule them all...
DHS Motto- “We do what we want, where we want, anytime we want to”.
They aren’t directly enforcing EPA’s rules. They’re enforcing customs rules.
If the vehicles entered this country illegally it’s a customs issue. DHS’s ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) component has appropriate and proper jurisdiction.
I propose eliminating all, or at least almost all, armed federal law enforcement positions. If desk agents of some FLEA-bag think they have a case against someone, they contact the local sheriff’s office and present their case. If the sheriffs go along with it, the arrest or seizure is made by said sheriffs. If not, the feds might reconsider whether what they are doing is important or not (to say nothing of being compliant with the Constitution. Where’s the EPA in that document, again? To say nothing of the DEA, FBI, CIA, BATFE, DHS, etc.)
But, but, but, the EPA is just fulfilling its assigned role to be the Gestapo Wing of the Democrat Brotherhood Government!
Why do you think we pay taxes?
Reid’s BLM Police can’t be expected to do all of the punishment to us here on Welfare Plantation America!
Besides, it might make nice wheels for a daughter of one of the High Command’s Officials, possibly whose Initials are BHO, or is it BS?
It is soooooo difficult to figure out with all this transparency, sealed records, and destroyed hard drives.
I just noticed the tailgate stopped the bullets.
“She also said her vehicle was just one of 40 that feds seized in various locations that same day for the same reason.”
I thought this was the same car as the other article. Possibly not
” WHY IS DHS INVOLVED IN A CIVIL CODE VIOLATION?................”
Because a police state is a safe state.
There is reason to suspect that VIN on the vehicle in question had been altered. That’s illegal.
There is no such thing as a 1985 Land Rover Defender. That name came into use in 1990.
It would seem that the VIN was changed to one appropriate for 1985 to fool unsuspecting buyers into thinking that the 25-year exemption would apply.
