Australia is grieving the loss of 28 lives taken too soon over the skies of Eastern Ukraine. It reminds us that in each act of war there is also collateral damage and always unspeakable suffering and loss. Behind each act of aggression are soldiers led by commanders who are led by leaders and governments all playing the age old battle for territorial and ideological gain.
When thinking about those innocent people shot out of the sky over Eastern Ukraine, we already understand that the greatest casualty in this tragedy, as well as the wider conflict in Ukraine, is always “the truth,” as Aeschylus the Greek tragic dramatist (525 BC – 456 BC) declared so long ago.
As we talk about the truth, right now, our governments are asking us to believe in their leadership and their version of reality through their words and the commentary in their news agencies. The trouble is we cannot trust them because the same principle applies when identifying the validity of ones faith. “By their fruits you shall know them (Matthew 7:16)* and; “then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free,” (John 8:32). This is far from embedding all citizens within a society marked by intelligence driven governments who are asking for more intelligence powers.
Now more than ever, each one of us understands that the problem of a lack of commitment to the truth is a very human and political one. George Bernard Shaw stated that,
“the reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
The disastrous situation which we all find ourselves in as a global community is an unreasonable model with

Christians from Indonesia to Nigeria are being ethnically cleansed or forced to become Muslims while the world turns a blind eye. Hamas sends rockets from schools and hospitals, but Israel is condemned for defending themselves.
In the downing of flight MA17, Russia is clearly on the side of blame while we should have kept our promise of defending them for eliminating their weapons of mass destruction. So are we really against Putin on this?
In the battle against the Taliban, al-Qaida, ISIS, and the overall Muslim dream of an Islamic State, Putin is on our side. But are we really against the Terrorists when we supply them in Syria, and give Hamas $40 million for humanitarian needs we know they will use for missiles to launch at Israel?
We ask where is the outrage? Oh we have it here at FR and on the right in flyover country, But does the American people really understand the depth of the problem?
I doubt it, because from my viewpoint the moral and strategic clarity exists only in uncomplicated minds, and that is something of a rarity these days.
Here Simon — this one’s for you:
Explosions Heard Around MH17 Site As Investigators Finally Arrive

Yesterday, pro Russian separatists reportedly laid mines around the area of the crash, further preventing investigation efforts.
After the rescuers arrived today, new explosions were allegedly heard near the crash site. One reporter in the area reported a powerful blast, and noted smoke about six miles from the MH17 site.

Good, or should I keep looking?
That’s a very interesting article.
Thanks for the ping.
I really enjoyed reading this.
In the battle against the Taliban, al-Qaida, ISIS, and the overall Muslim dream of an Islamic State, Putin is on our side.

One word: Iran.
Putin is not standing with us as it relates to the Iranian dream of acquiring a nuclear bomb. In doing so, can you help me understand where you come up with the notion that they are standing with Israel, a nation Iran is dedicated to removing from the face of the earth.
In some ways, this opinion piece is quite superficial.
A pact was forged between Moscow and Jerusalem to ensure Israel's security during a private meeting last month, according to a Friday Maariv report.
The report claims that a 90-minute conversation took place between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin during Netanyahu's last-minute attempt to prevent an interim nuclear deal between Western powers and Iran.
Russia is helping Iran to arm Hamas, and Putin is no friend to Christians.

Interesting stuff, again pointing out how Putin speaks out of both sides of his mouth.
Less than a month after assuring the Israelis, he is in Iran reaffirming his support for Iran’s nuclear program, which neither you or I are naive enough to believe it is for peaceful purposes.
Wait, I do not claim that Putin is anything but a totalitarian thug, and I believe he speaks out of both sides of his mouthj.
However, how is that different from Obama?
if you want to claim Obama is better than Putin, you are wrong. The whole point of my comment was to point out how there is no moral clarity in any thing we see going on today.
Our own government is busy destroying our closest ally. Could you please show me where there is any difference between us and Russia? I dare say I can at least see Putin willing to keep Israel surviving as an entity to keep a check on the Muslims.
Obama has no desire for Israel to survive.
What in the heck does that even mean, what is it's relevance?
We have been dealing with the Russian threat for almost a 100 years, who our current president is does not end us discussing national security threats and our enemies and NATO concerns and aggression in Europe, and whoever the Russian strong man is.
I’m sorry, but I fear Obama and what he will do more than Putin.
Putin will do nothing that is not in the interest of his nation. Taking us or Israel out is not in his interest.
Obama’s interest is to take us out.
You seem to have this feeling that Obama cares about us or Israel. He doesn’t.
Obama is first and foremost a Muslim, and he will do everything in his power to advance the Islamic state.
Putin has no love for any Muslim country outside of using them as long as they are beneficial to him.
Putin respects Israel, because Israel shows strength, and that Putin respects.
I fear Obama more than Putin, because Obama is destroying our ability to be strong. Putin would never have been a threat if it were not the position Obama has put our country in.
As long as Bush was in office Putin stayed in the background because he knew Bush showed strength, something we no longer have.
As for Europe they relish us being weak also. They have been doing to themselves what Obama is doing us for years. Western Europe has been Socialist a long time, and due to that fact they have allowed Islam to grow in Europe. The exact thing the Socialists have been allowing and now Obama is moving forward at a much faster pace to catch up to Western Europe.
Mark my word, the power vacuum Obama has allowed to be created in the world will be taken up by China who is sitting back while Obama dismantles our ability to ever defend ourselves or others ever again.
Americas dominance is OVER! Thanks to Obama, not Putin.
I will also say thank you Republicans who refuse to take the POS out by Impeachment. No rule of law will be the end of this Republic. If we don’t remove Obama before his term is up, America’s next stage will be a dictatorship, because that is where a failure to enforce the rule of law democratically leads.
That my friend is Obama’s doing, not Putin’s.
If we lose our Republic from within, it won’t matter what happens with Russia and our 100 years of confrontations with them.
I didn’t express any feeling for Obama.
This president, like Carter and JFK and Clinton, will be gone in 30 months, but the Russian threat and Putin will remain.
We have Russia and empire to contend with, that is a discussion that stands on it’s own, regardless who is president.
