William Murphy set out Sunday night to pick up a few groceries at the New Orleans Food Co-op in the St. Roch neighborhood. The roughly three-block walk is one the 54-year-old home renovator said he's made countless times since moving to the neighborhood in 2006.
But what should have been a routine errand quickly turned into a harrowing encounter with a group of teenagers who left him bloody and battered.

Thanks. For whatever reason, I’m liking my wheel gun more and more these days.
You usually only have to,drop one.
There’s something to be said for simplicity — plus the ability to keep your gun hidden from view and fire from a pocket or purse. The bad guys won’t see it coming.
There are pockets in New Orleans that even the police don’t want to go into. Most New Orleanians get along just fine but there is an element, some even generational, that are violent, thieving, muderous ganstas. I wish I could say something positive will be done but not while Landrieu is mayor. Tough leaders are needed to turn this around. Most of this area is a food stamp, government supported group anyway.
I would think that dropping a couple of them accompanied by very loud bangs would obviate the need to drop all of them.
Are teenagers the same as “Teens?” If so then the press shouldn’t be using such a Racist word.
Choir practice ended early and the poor yutes were left with nothing to do.
“Group of teens”
We’re not to infer ANYTHING from this, you know. Just a random group of teens with nothing in common with other random groups of teens that attack random victims for no known reason.
It would be absolutely “racist” for anyone to infer that this was a group of black teenage thugs who targeted an older white man (a demographic that absolutely has NOT been dehumanized by leftist propaganda for years) for racist reasons,
so don’t do that!
(apophasis - learn it, love it)
He should have had at least a pocket knife. And the will to use it.
I think of my late friend in Chicago who carried his best friends, Smith and Wesson, as he called it, whenever he left the house.
He was parked outside a grocery while his wife shopped and about a half dozen of Obamas would be sons approached the car half way surrounding it. One reached for the car door.
My friend simply pulled his jacket back to reveal his “friends” and as he moved his hand toward it, the young men took off running.
Any estimates as to what the "rest of the cowards" were "packing"? (or can retrieve from their cars or homes)
Pistols, straight razors?
Bravado is not always the best course of action. If a surprise attack or lack of planning & intelligence leave no other options, then by all means, go for Bravado.
Know your enemy, his capabilities, training and weapons. Plan an exit strategy beforehand.
"Live long and prosper!"
It would have. Shoot one and the rest would have scatted [ran]they are mean, not brave. Just as if you have a pocket knife in your hand when they are swarming you. Put the cold steel to one of them and he will move the rest.
They know that they are protected by Obama and holder. Muss a hair on one of their heads, and the entire criminal justice system will fall upon you.
Walking while white. It’s a crime in Nola.....................
I don’t think it’s as much bravado as it is knowing their MO. They’re running in a pack, not going home to get something. They’re black punks looking for an easy target. Two shots from my .357 and I still have three left. Which probably gives ample time for an exit.
Dat's raciss!!
The rest will be back to testify against you in court.
Thinkin about one of the auto deploy batons to carry since NJ has it’s crazy gun Bias! And of course the standard can of mace!
You got that right. Can’t have the slaves defending themselves. That is for the king’s men, should they decide to.
Yes, may be NOLA official policy as it is with the crAP.
