An advocacy group has released images which claim to show an NYPD officer putting a seven-months pregnant woman into a chokehold for illegally grilling on the sidewalk in front of her apartment. NYPD officers have been banned from using the chokehold since 1993, but an officer can be seen in the pictures wrapping his arm around 27-year-old Rosan Miller's neck in the Saturday incident. Her young daughter is also in the pictures, watching the arrest unfold. The NYPD told MailOnline that it is currently investigating the incident.

I wouldn’t live there if they made me the king.
Now if it were an illegal standing there grilling, the cop would have just pissed his pants and started handing out teddy bears and soccer balls.
Why not just fry an egg on the hood of a cop car?
All this drama for grilling on the sidewalk?I guess all the drug dealers and gangbangers suddenly left town, leaving the cops with nothing to do.
I’m not a cop defender by any means, but none of those pictures show a choke hold.
Sorry, I don’t see the choke hold. We worked on the choke hold at Aikido Friday evening. It involves circling the neck with one arm and holding onto that arm with the other hand. Very effective. I can see most of her neck...no choke. Pure sensationalism.
In NYC, Thou Shall Not Grill.
He didn’t put the Affie in a choke hold. Look at the pictures. If anything the officer will be charged with racism since he is white and she an Affie.
Maybe he thought she was just fat
I know I’m going to get hammered, but I looked at the pics and to call that a choke hold is a little sensationalized. It generally takes both hands/arms to perform a choke hold and the victim does not typically run away afterwards.
Yes you are correct no choke hold there just more hype.
I wouldn’t call that a choke-hold. There’s no indication he was blocking her airway at all. There is obviously more to this than meets the eye.
The officer probably reminded her it was illegal to grill on the side-walk and she went ballistic. Laws don’t mean anything to some people, and Black empowerment teaches these people to refuse to listen to anyone at all. Who cares if it’s an officer or not?
Under some circumstances, the officer is right to push the issue until the citizen complies, or he takes them into custody.
She probably could have said something like, “Sorry officer, I’ll move it to the back.” He would have simple watched her do it, and moved on.
I don’t know the sidewalk situation, but neighbors have a right to use the sidewalk too, and it may have been a small sidewalk that didn’t allow for grilling and safe passage.
If you don’t like the laws, get them changed. Otherwise you have to comply with them like everyone else.
Well just another day in the war on grilling. :-)
I wonder why the child was not arrested? How come the pet fish survived? Also:
The lieutenant involved in the incident allegedly responded to a domestic call from a different resident at 594 Bradford St on Thursday and was in the neighborhood to follow up on Saturday when he witnessed the illegal grilling.
In other words, there were no complaints. The officer decided to enforce an obscure law all by himself, out of his legally trained mind. Now the police is throwing the book at the entire family to scare them with prosecution to avoid a counter-suit. But, IMO, an unreasonable assault had taken place. As the very minimum, the LEO was incapable of solving the problem by any peaceful means. One could also accuse him of threatening the unborn child, as choking of the mother can't possibly be healthy for anyone.
no dog to shoot all day long....had to do something with all that aggression.
I saw the way they handled ‘Spiderman’ in Times Square. I lost count in the number of cops who went to ‘hover’. Utterly ridiculous. Couldn’t 2/3 cops handle the situation?
