U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary of State John Kerry and the foreign ministers of Great Britain and France all are rushing to achieve a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. Their motive — to end civilian suffering and restore stability to the area — is noble. The images of the wounded and dead resulting from the conflict are indeed agonizing. However, these senior statesmen can be most helpful now by doing nothing. To preserve the values they cherish and to send an unequivocal message to terrorist organizations and their state sponsors everywhere, Israel must be permitted to crush Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
This is the lesson of previous rounds of fighting between the Israeli Defense Forces and terrorist strongholds. In Lebanon in 2006 and in Gaza in 2008 and again in 2012, Israel responded to rocket attacks on its cities with fierce counteroffensives. Fighting against a deeply dug-in enemy that both blended in with the local population and used it as a shield, Israel’s best efforts to avoid civilian casualties invariably proved limited. Incensed world opinion generated immense pressure on governments to convene the U.N. Security Council and empower human rights organizations to censure Israel and stop the carnage. These measures succeeded where the terrorists’ rockets failed. Israel was compelled to back down.

A cease fire merely prolongs the agony and the deaths. A prime example is Korea. The cease fire is some 60 years long, and the war continues, now with nuclear weapons.
Obama and Kerry are deeply disappointed.

Sadly, IMHO, Israel won’t be able to really crush Hamas. Oh, this time they will put a terrific and well-deserved hurt on that organization.
But, the population of Gaza, and indeed of all Palestine, is fertile soil for Islamic craziness, of which Hamas is a worse-than-usual example. I still remember the Palestinians celebrating in the streets on 9/11 and handing out candy to children. Remember the ululating lady?

How many times have we gone through these cease fires and then seen the same clashes begin again after the Palestinians rearm. Only permanent solution I see is for Israel to occupy that area. They will be condemned by everyone but nothing else has worked.
The actual meaning of the word “HAMAS” has an almost overwhelming evil sound to it even to the uninformed in the Hebrew language. Now, with the meaning understood as revealed by your research, HAMAS can be called exactly what it is; evil, violent, and an enemy of the entire world. Those who would try to take more or all of the land that God gave to His people would be of the same demonic cult called HAMAS. God will not be mocked. Israel is the land God gave to His chosen people. There is a day coming when He will judge the nations of the world on how they treated the Jewish nation. Let it be known that the day of His judgment may be sooner than you think. Much sooner!
Jesus was actually revealing the name of the terrorist group that would be in operation in Israel, which would prompt God to destroy them for their corruption. Remember, Jesus was speaking in Hebrew, not English, to his followers. Jesus knew He was revealing the name of the group who would oppose Israel, and bring in the time of Jacob’s trouble.
HAMAS is a terrorist group that spreads false witness against the Jews in Israel, as well as the Christians around the world. It uses the media well to promote negative propaganda to accomplish its goals.

I really don't have any idea for the answer to my question. Millions of angry impoverished people surrounding Israel just doesn't seem like an answer. That's especially now with the danger of ISIS - inspired opposition taking hold.

The Hamasses have nothing to lose but money. Gaza would go quiet by Monday morning if their money dried up. It is their backers who must learn. Qatar, the Soddies, and the Irans, who are their moneybag guys, still have a violent lesson to learn. I expect the Soddy royals to get their throats cut before long and the rest will follow. The ME is working its way back to pre-Ottoman configuration and it’s only being delayed by these tribal jerkopffs who use their money to keep the fight in their neighbors yards.

100 % correct! Hamas MUST be crushed, limited war does nothing except move the next battle a little into the future. If war is required, than make sure there will be such terror that hamas will never again think about attacking Israel.War is not a game to be played with. It is the last option, and includes the TOTAL destruction of the enemy. Limited war just guarantees another war in the near future.
Israel needs to hurt hamas so badly that it will be another 1000 years before they think about another war.
