An execution taking place in Arizona tonight appears to have gone horribly awry. According to a report from the Associated Press, inmate Joseph Rudolph Wood "gasped and snorted" and was still alive more than an hour after the execution began. Wood was not pronounced dead until 3:49PM MT, one hour and 57 minutes after the beginning of the procedure.
Wood's lawyers filed an emergency appeal during the execution, noting that he was "gasping and snorting for more than an hour" but was still alive some 70 minutes after the execution began. The whole process should have taken 10 minutes, Wood's lawyers said.

Of course, nitrogen isn't a poison. It is natural, green, and doesn't cause global warming.
Quick and painless.
When has DOJ shown concern about them?
Maybe the protocol should be to untwist your panties before posting.
I agree.
I would make an exception if there was DNA and other forensic evidence. Would never vote for a death penalty without it, and maybe wouldn’t with it.
Wood was sentenced to death for killing Debra Dietz and her father, Eugene Dietz, in 1989 at the family’s automotive shop in Tucson.
Wood and Dietz had a tumultuous relationship in which he periodically assaulted her. Dietz tried to end their relationship and got an order of protection against Wood.
On the day of the shooting, Wood went to the auto shop and waited for Dietz’s father, who disapproved of his daughter’s relationship with Wood, to get off the phone. Once the father hung up, Wood pulled out a revolver, shot him in the chest and then smiled.
Wood then turned his attention toward Debra Dietz, who was trying to telephone for help. Wood grabbed her by the neck and put his gun to her chest. She pleaded with him to spare her life. An employee heard Wood say, “I told you I was going to do it, I have to kill you.” He then called her an expletive and fired two shots in her chest.

Botched abortions don’t make the national news cycle.
Not even the 3-day long abortion one woman went through.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Lethal injection, electric chair, gas chamber... all nonsense where we try to make capital punishment more sterile, cleaner, and humane, by pretending technology is the answer.
Hang them.
I call KARMA!
Is that too long? Did he miss an appointment?
They should use a vet, it only takes a few seconds for the animal to die (mine with his head in my lap). They then continue to inject the remaining medication even after the heart beat stops....1 minute total...then the crying starts...GG
Im a doctor and a supporter of capital punishment.
I would pull the trigger, open the trap, throw the switch, turn on the gas, swing the axe.
I would never ever participate in a medical execution.
Replace "doctor" with "pharmacy student," and add me to the list.
Bad choice - benzos like lorazepam are popular in part because it's almost impossible to OD on them unless their effects are synergized by another depressant (usually ethanol). Opioids would be a better choice - fentanyl in particular.
Add a propofol chaser - won’t remember a thing.
> Add a propofol chaser - wont remember a thing.
Only an issue if you anticipate the patient waking up after the procedure.
Drawing and quartering is more effective.
>>Why go to the expense? Just let a Jihadist have at ‘em with a rusty pocket knife.
Because the Jihadists should be the first ones through the guillotine.
There was an eighteenth-century French doctor who invented a fool-proof gadget needing no medical expertise, neither to do the deed nor to check the result.
