Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Tony Dungy told the Tampa Tribune that he would NOT have drafted Michael Sam if he were still coaching.
“I wouldn’t have taken him,’’ said former Bucs and Colts coach Tony Dungy, now an analyst for NBC. “Not because I don’t believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn’t want to deal with all of it. “It’s not going to be totally smooth … things will happen.’
What are your thoughts on Coach Dungy’s statements???
Expect the pendulum to swing back when the actual statistics become very public. It’s rule of majority not minority
And...if you draft the gay guy and he’s not able to play at NFL standards, then you have to cut or trade the gay guy.
Can’t do that. Discrimination. Gays guys get a pass. So you’re stuck with him. Don’t play the gay guy because he sucks at football and you’re still in trouble.

If Michael Sam was turned on by one-legged midgets, should he tell anyone? Most people will agree that such a private thing should remain, well, private.
I’m just going to go out on a limb here and say gays should keep their sexual preferences to themselves. That’s all. There is no closet they need to come out of; nobody is discriminating against them in this day and age, and what the do in privacy should be just their own business... Not something to be chatted up all over the land and sports TV.

I don’t know much about sports figures, but this man Dugby conducts himself well, and is a very clear thinker. Of course in today’s hyper-raced world, it helps that he’s black. It should not even matter. A coach is a coach, period. He was still holding back, but is used to being diplomatic. I was glad that Sam’s response was surprisingly low-key. He may have gotten a better idea of what his status as a 7th round pick really is. Best to be humble and hardworking. At least there have been no more (public) follow-ups to The Kiss.
I’m guessing he’ll be a special teams wedge guy and that’s a high risk position.

I disagree. He didn’t walk back his comments. He said on Dan Patrick today that he doesn’t believe in gay marriage.

For starters, people would tell me to shut up. Mrs. Vigilanteman would banish me to the couch until I did so and, if I still persisted, I'd be shunned and probably unemployable. And yet, my stated heterosexual preferences probably have 10 times or more as many advocates as your average homo.
So why can't we hold them to the same standard?
