The rebels apparently shot two of the four aircraft Kiev sent to try and stop the Rebels from overrunning the Units trapped in the southeast.
The conflicting info says the 79th Brigade was either “destroyed”, or surrendered, with some fleeing over the border into Russia.
If true, this is a huge loss to Kiev, in both militarily terms and image.
George S. Patton was right.
Thank you. I’m sick of the media trying to equate shooting down military jets with shooting down a passenger aircraft. It doesn’t matter if we agree with one side over the other or neither. Military planes are going to be a legitimate target.
Exactly right! The Russians are just doing what the “West” has done several times — enforcing a “no-fly” zone.
(Please note: I am in no way excusing the downing of passenger jets.)
It’s not a fair fight anyways. Ukraine has (or had) an air force. Those who are seeking their independence don’t. The separatist did capture one plane I believe.
Apparently these separatists actually want to win, so they are not hamstrung by the sissy-boy Rules of Engagement the 0bama Regime imposes on our troops; they can actually shoot at the other side and fighter jets are not the same as an airliner.
do the rebels now have an air force?
If the Ukrainian war planes violated the separatist air space, they should have known they were vulnerable.
