Dr Carson:Costco’s executives are smart businessmen—they didn’t pull D’Souza’s book intentionally

When I was a small child, one of the most dramatic and effective business boycotts in the history of America occurred. This, of course, was the Montgomery bus boycott. By refusing to ride the bus, blacks who were being discriminated against were able to terminate many discriminatory practices not only in Alabama but also throughout the South. The white-owned businesses were clearly being unfair, and the public transportation system was no better. The actions taken were appropriate and in many cases heroic.

The power of the purse, particularly in a capitalistic society, is mighty, and business boycotts are a potent tool in the hands of the masses to enforce economic and social fairness. Through the use of the ballot and the wallet, we the people have life-or-death power over virtually every aspect of our nation.

Astute businesspeople generally do not make their political views widely known, because they realize that about half of their customers agree with them and half do not. There is no need to unnecessarily create animosity, especially when you are trying to sell products. In the case of Costco, a company highly respected for wise business practices, Jim Sinegal, the co-founder and former CEO, has made no secret of his profound admiration for President Obama and his policies.

For the sake of disclosure, I should reveal that I have been a member of the Costco board of directors for 15 years. On the board are people of several political persuasions, and we are all

Really? Do you believe in coincidence, Doctor Carson? How about the no firearms policy recently instigated by Costco to strip customers from being able to defend themselves? You don't see a pattern yet?

I think the good Doctor has given the public enough information here to assess he is just not what America needs if he decides to run for POTUS.

We already have DC filled with politico hacks who say the same things about "Coincidence - no harm intended".

If there’s anyone’s word I would take it would be Mr. Carson’s.

I Love and Trust Dr Carson.

If I wanted everyone to agree with me all the time...I wouldn't have gotten married.

Run Ben Run!

I like Carson, but he’s a bit naïve and probably wrong about this one.

Dr Carson:Costco’s executives are smart businessmen—they didn’t pull D’Souza’s book intentionally

Sorry, Dr. Carson but I disagree. For quite some time, COSTCO Executives have made it abundantly clear that they are slobbering ass-kissing worshippers of the TRAITOROUS kenyan/indonesian commie usurper.

The good thing that came out of this was the revolt by COSTCO customers and the publicity that drove S'Souza's book to number one.

“The good thing that came out of this was the revolt by COSTCO customers and the publicity that drove S’Souza’s book to number one. “

I am included here as I let my Costco membership expire last month and am now a proud San’s Club member.

In the case of Costco and the D’Souza book, because of Sinegal’s views, lack of awareness was interpreted by many conservative customers as political misconduct. Although he and I differ politically, he continues to be a huge financial supporter of the Carson Scholars Fund and many other educational endeavors.

When you have them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow.

Hmm.

Nope, just trying to ensure that we do not repeat mistakes like the disaster of Obama.

Those who joined him in 2008 did not listen to conspirators like Hannity who warned otherwise.

Now we are stuck with him.

I’m with you. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... What’s that other phrase, “by your actions you shall be known?” Well... The message from Costco is loud and clear.

Just occurred to me (no coffee yet today)... This is an idiotic headline. Not intentionally? What, it was an accident then? Sheesh.

They are smart businessmen alright. They made a calculation. On the numbers side it is all about sales, profit and what else they could be doing with that space. On the political/PR side it is balancing angering conservatives vs sucking up to and currying favor from liberals.

I think the good Doctor has given the public enough info here to decide he is not what America needs...

It's disturbing that he profits from being on a Board of Directors that obviously did not have a policy to protect freedom of speech in the press. That puts him on the corporate side of the discussion.

I'd already discounted him. We've been traitored SO MANY times by pols who talked the talk and then voted against everything they supposedly stood for. I will NEVER trust a candidate, ever again, who does not have a strong, proven record of conservative voting and effective actions. Carson is an "attractive distractor" to keep our focus from being on Ted Cruz and the small number of other proven, true conservatives.

Well I would hope the Hillary book is gone, it was an abysmal failure.

I think there’s much sub-text in this article.

I like Ben Carson. I think with him as president, we can get it right, ie put a minority in that office whom we can respect and admire. Not only us, but the world.

The buffoon elected twice is a petty politician. He is and will never be a Jackie Robinson.

On the other hand, people like Ben Carson, Condi Rice, Clarence Thomas et al inspire people all over the world.

The article intends to show that Carson, as a candidate, is someone who will appeal to democrats and independents.

I doubt very much that the book’s snub was UN-intentional, any more than the attmept to cancel Duck Dynasty was. In both cases it was definitely intentional, but Carson is giving Costco the benefit of the doubt...
