In short, New Yorkers are unhappiest on an adjusted basis; but scoff at those adjustments as you like, they are still third-most-unhappy region (of the areas where there are at least 200 respondents) out of 177 metro areas on an unadjusted basis.
Itd be blithe to say those who work on Wall Street are scientifically miserable. But remember, money buys happiness. So, probably not.
The happiest five cities are all in Louisiana, with Lafayette taking the crown (Louisiana is also the happiest state). The unhappiest cities, after New York City, are St. Joseph, Mo,;.; South Bend, Ind.; Erie, Penn.; and the Evansville, Ind.-Henderson, Ky. area.

I known who Ray is and that makes two of us!
I visited ONCE and was most unhappy while I was there. Indomitably irritating bunch.
Give me Texas.
Showing off your Latin, eh? Fair enough, but what does indolence have to do with the subject at hand?
BALONEY.
>> One, that I wake up and realize I own an Apple Orchard. (OMG, the WORK!)
LOL... focus on all the apple pie and farm stand sales.
So New York City, with the vast number of antidepressants its residents consume, and the millions of hours they spend on psychiatric couches whining about their parents, and the wine, women, men, transsexuals, and song they indulge themselves in day and night, are the unhappiest people in America.
What would make them happy? They thought electing a communist mayor would lift their quality of life. But that didn’t work. Even electing Chuck Schumer for decades and allowing him to over-indulge Wall Street to the point of virtually destroying the U.S. banking system hasn’t cheered them up. Maybe achieving their dream of allowing New York City to be overrun with illegal Hispanic immigrants will finally bring them the joy they’ve so long been seeking.
That’s because everyone hates Bill de Blasio. What kind of man makes up his own name and puts “de” in it?
The voters apparently do not make a connection between voting for left-wing wackos who want to tell them what to eat, what to drink, what to wear, what to think, etc., and their level of unhappiness?!
Um, no. It was bad enough raising strawberries and raspberries for market and Whole Foods years ago!
You couldn't pay me to live in NY!
“BALONEY.”
HAM AND CHEESE.
MT and LA. Two states with extensive hunting and fishing opportunities. Coincidence?
MT and LA are in America. NYC is in Nepeuropa
I’m sorry, Ray Stantz
I was going to make guacamole but I ony got the avocados. So, I sliced the avocados on my ham sandwich. Delicious.
Agreed. I lived in Boston for decades and for about two years I had to live in NYC and would commute back to Boston on weekends to take care of personal and family business. I looked forward to taking the Acela back to NYC every Monday and my work on Wall Street just to be among more friendly people than the mean, sour bastards in Boston. Most guys who did the same agreed with me on this. Boston is the most miserable city in the country.
I believe language reveals a lot about a culture. And the Boston accent is the worst in the US. I can listen to any other accent, from anywhere on the globe, but nothing grates on my nerves like Boston whining.
oh, I forgot the head of the administration but that must be because he is robotic in his enunciation. No emo. No heart. No truth. Just hot air. Kind of like listening to a scratched vinyl record.
“Laissez les bons temps rouler!” is a Cajun expression meaning “Let the good times roll!” It strongly conveys the “joie de vivre” (”joy of living”) attitude that pervades south Louisiana.
(Urban Dictionary)
I remember that pitcher (John Rocker?) and his comments about NYC (I guess they were playing the Mets); the funniest thing was that people who heard his comments said he must have really been on the train he described (due to the level of detail).
Hysterical...
