Hamas militants sent a donkey laden with explosives on a suicide mission in one of the most unconventional tactics yet seen in the fighting in Gaza, the Israeli army has said.
Troops said they were forced to open fire on the animal - blowing it up - as it approached their position in the southern city of Rafah, near the Egyptian border.

Donkey bombs have been used in Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon. I seem to recall them being used in other wars in the past, apparently to little effect.

Does it count as suicide if the donkey doesn't know what's going on? I mean, five minutes earlier it was all "Allo my dear, this is Achmed, your lover - please to carry this load over to there, thank you very much, kisskiss..." You can't blame the donkey for that. Well, I don't think so, anyway.

Mine dogs were used by the Soviets to destroy German tanks. Take a dog and train it to run under a tank by feeding it only under a running tank. Take him out to the field where German armor is attacking, strap an antitank mine on his back and let him go!
