United Nations: The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting today morning on Ukraine.
Britain's UN Mission said yesterday it requested the meeting and later tweeted that it is set for 10 am today.
The request follows Wednesday's downing of a Ukrainian air force fighter and yesterday's downing of a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane carrying 295 people over eastern Ukraine.
Britain has proposed a Security Council press statement calling for "a full, thorough and independent international investigation into the incident."
The statement, obtained by The Associated Press, was circulated to all 15 council members, who must approve it before it can be issued.

Ukraine has always been closely knit with Russia...so no surprise Putin's put his foot down at Nato/US interfering in Ukraine's politics and taking over of it's Governance. We'd do likewise if Putin did so in Canada or any other nation we're allied with...and we do just that. Cuba comes to mind...and other nations such as Libya, Syria, Iraq, etc, etc, What Putin is doing is no different then what Nato/Eu/US is doing on the World stage....all parties scrambling for dominance...and fair game for them all in their eyes.

Ukraine was really closely knit with Russia when Stalin murdered them in the millions in 1932/33. That was a real brotherly Russian thing to do to the closely knit Ukrainians. You obviously aren’t reading any history that doesn’t support the pro-Putin view of things.

Why did Iran equip an airbus commercial aircraft with F-14 equipment, and deactivate the Iranian Airbus’s transponder which identified it as a commercial flight?

The first capital of Russia was Kiev..... Ukraine borders the current Russia, the same Russia that was given assurances that the US and NATO would not seek to convert those nations to NATO membership (which is naturally seen as a threat to Russia.) ....The same NATO and US did not waste time immediately trying to add them to NATO.
