News 12 reporter Sean Bergin has been suspended after he argued on the air that the anti-cop mentality that has so contaminated Americas inner cities is largely the result of young black men growing up without fathers.

local TV news in America is an absolute joke. Besides info on local fires and weather, its total rubbish
So now, we are not allowed to talk about the many negative impacts of young black men growing up without fathers?? That is now racist????
Is it bigoted if we omit race, and say that there are bad impacts for any children growing up without a father? Or will that be seen as bigoted against women and mothers???
Political correctness may yet kill off our civilization.
FIRE HIM! He dared speak the truth!
The guy from Opie & Anthony is in a similar fix.
Not that I care per se, but it’s the principle of the thing.
It’s workin’ hard at it. The list of unacceptable words/phrases/terminology/comments grows bigger every day. Pretty soon when someone asks about your car, you better not say you have a “black” car. Guess that would be interpreted as you have one to make you feel powerful over something black. Lib-logic. I can’t make any sense out of it anymore. Yes, it’s getting that ridiculous. I guess the govt funded data proving what the reporter said will now need to altered to say the opposite.
“local TV news in America is an absolute joke. Besides info on local fires and weather, its total rubbish”
My “local” news orginates in Cleveland. The local news could be retitled: Homies behaving badly.
Truth, its the new hate speech.
It angers Conservatives when you lie about them, but it infuriates liberals when you tell the truth about them!
WTF? You get punished for telling the truth in this country? These urban predators have no family structure to show them right or wrong, suck on the golden welfare teat to buy bling and sneakers, and sell drugs to by weapons and more drugs. We should train our snipers in these cities.
He will go down the Memory Hole...
Yes, we will now get punished for telling the truth. It is racist to talk about urban ghetto culture, fatherless feral kids in the ghetto, etc. The race element overrides everything else.
Eric Holder says we are cowards on race discussions.
Gee, I wonder why, Eric, when you see the reaction here. Rather than discuss the content of what was said, rather than discuss whether fatherlessness is a problem in the ghetto, instead we lambast someone who dares to mention the issue.
Mustn’t. Speak. Truth.
His evaluation was actually wrong, or at least largely wrong.
I don’t have to deal with inner city anything, but much of the anti-cop feeling in this country is due to the way that cops do their job. And it’s not just in the inner city.
We have militarized police forces who break down doors, shoot dogs kids and innocent adults. I suspect the average law abiding citizen is more likely to have a loaded gun pointed at them by a cop than by a criminal.
Our local news is nothing more than Africans killing Africans, with the occasional weather forecast thrown in. Heaven forbid we allow the true condition of our cites to be broadcast.
It has made the police officers job impossible and it has got to stop. The underlying cause of all of this, of course: young black men growing up without fathers. Unfortunately, no one in the news media has the courage to touch that subject.
Truer words have never been spoken. And of course he has been suspended and will probably be fired for telling the truth.
He is absolutely right that no one in the news media has the courage to touch the story because if they do they will no longer be in the media.
It is true with almost every story the MSM talks about.
Tell the truth and you will immediately be fired.
There are plenty of liars with degrees in journalism and no honor and integrity willing to take their place.
While he sure has a point about not having fathers, I think it has more to do with the attitude and behavior of cops in inner unarmed cities.
truth....can’t have that now, can we?
I would contend that what he said is not the truth, or not entirely the truth, anyway.
The implication is that if the biological fathers of these young men had stuck around and helped raise them, they would have turned out better.
The problem is that the considerable majority of these “fathers” were irresponsible thugs, which is of course why they didn’t stick around.
Let’s, however, assume they had.
How does having an irresponsible thug around help a boy grow up to be a responsible young man? Is there any evidence that having such a guy around has any positive benefits at all? What are the chances such a “father” would be abusive to the boy, his mother and his siblings?
What this unfortunate reporter meant to say is that young boys raised without a responsible adult father figure are likely to turn out poorly. That IS a fact. But if there are no responsible adult males around, how are they to be provided?
