Following a particularly violent Fourth of July weekend, violence in Chicago continued Saturday with 21 people shot overnight, including three people wounded outside a Northwest Side pizza restaurant.
The shooting took place around 10 p.m. Friday in the 6000 block of West Fullerton Avenue when someone opened fire on three people outside Marco’s Pizza in the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood, according to authorities.

Chicago has an extremely high murder rate. Something over 15 per 100,000 population.
Places like Los Angeles and New York City have more murders per year but a lower murder rate.
Actually the murder rate in Detroit is down 20% this year. Seems that encouraging armed citizens to take care of themselves works. It was down 30% but a high week makes a big difference.

I agree with the statistics because too many children have been raised without God in their lives. However, many young boys have grown up without fathers and done very well...due to CHRISTIAN or Organized mothers who aren’t the norm. So nothing is a slam dunk.... even the statistics on crime.
In fact, the juvenile study that is most accurate is that in filling out the questionnaires it seems they entered the field of crime because they had no real relationship closeness with any family member they would not want to hurt, if they were imprisoned.
Many young teens wouldn’t do anything to hurt that Mother, Grandmother or Grandfather they are close to....so fathers aren’t the only hope they have. Even siblings can have an emotional hold on preventing juveniles from being on the wrong side of the law.
I taught CJ in a community college for years, and statistics do not tell the whole story....

But! But! the gun laws are supposed to stop this. more gun laws needed.
My Grandfather would drive his truck to Detroit from the North Side and pick up 5 gallon tins of alky, on contract to Dion O'Banion. He would buy a few extra for his own bar, the one he ran for my great-grandmother. Cut 50% with water, colored with caramelized sugar, a dab of iodine for bourbon, and kerosene for scotch. Turpentine was for gin or vodka, not sure which. This is all family lore. (My dad remembered running the bottle capper.)
The War on Drugs is such a rousing success, after all. I still think it just a way to funnel federal price supports to the gangs, in exchange for votes.

Or, if drug dealers showed up in YOUR neighborhood.
Or, if your son got involved with the "wrong" female who misused him.
Would YOU so easily dismiss the young ones?
The question isn't that we make war on bad stuff. It's that AT LEAST we TRY to.

My own dear sweet mother was against guns until I reminded her that her folks had a loaded rifle hanging up on a rack in their LIVING room in Phoenix, Arizona, when there were only 10,000 people living there.
She said: "Oh yes, that's true."
Also then-Mayor Dianne Feinstein carried a gun because her sick husband was in the hospital and she was "scared" to be out at night without her gun. HOWEVER she made San Francisco gun-free.

21 shot and only 2 dead? They need to take the injured to VA hospitals for treatment.
