HOUSTON, Texas--On Thursday Texas Governor Rick Perry spoke at a House Homeland Security Committee field hearing near the Texas-Mexico border, where lawmakers discussed the thousands of illegal immigrants entering the country each day. Perry wasted no time stressing that the migrants--many of whom are minors--must be sent back to their home countries as soon as possible.
"Nobody is doing any of these children the slightest favor by delaying a rapid return to their countries of origin, which in many cases is not Mexico," the governor said. "Allowing them to remain here will only encourage the next group of individuals to undertake the same life-threatening journey. Those who have come must be sent back to demonstrate, in no uncertain terms, that risking their lives to cross Mexico and enter our country simply isnt worth it."
He mentioned that because Border Patrol agents are stuck taking care of the children in facilities, there are less agents actively patrolling the border. Because of this, Perry said "the border between the U.S. and Mexico is less secure today than anytime in the recent pass."
He continued, "Were also in danger at the hands of those who might be slipping through from countries with known terrorist ties. With a range of potential threats facing us from abroad, this is not the time to turn our attention elsewhere. ... Secure this border, Mr. President. Finally address this issue, put an adequate number of Border Patrol agents on the ground permanently."
In Perry's view, if action is not taken soon "the flow [of illegal immigrants] is not going to stop."

Has it in him?
It has been a month or longer since these invaders crossed our borders
in Texas. If Perry was going to do anything but talk, he would have already
done it.
Maybe Texas can erect checkpoints and a fence 50ft inside the DHS entry points to deny access into Texas to anybody without appropriate credentials.
The Feds are transporting these kids. Perry and the whole of the National Guard can’t stop them.
The Berlin Wall kept people IN. Our Wall would keep illegals OUT.
World pressure had nothing to do with bringing down the Berlin Wall. The East was economically bankrupt. Fiscal reality brought down the wall.
If by some miracle we had a continous 50ft Wall along our entire Southern border I can't imagine some future President attempting to "bring it down." The people wont allow that -- the optics and evil intention would be obvious.
Of course, we have 60-80 illegal third worlders here so politically the Wall will likely not be built.
Without the wall, another Obama down the road would easily "invite" another 200M third world socialist scum into our dead Republic.
I fear the left will truly succeed (very soon) in fatally destroying our Republic.
A country without borders is not a sovereign nation... it is a territory. A territory can be governed by whomever can take control.
Thanks for the information about the Rangers. Any sign of Perry calling out the National Guard?
Those are some boats! We need more!
Politicians can't get their heads around a problem that requires real action immediately and not photo ops, optics, speeches and press conferences. They are still in their complacent bubble and can't really believe a true crisis is happening. They have shilled for the Chamber of commerce, hospitality business and agribusiness and construction interests for so long and duped the voter base with empty statements meaning nothing that they can't bring themselves to acknowledge that the world is blowing up in their faces and they have to act a leaders and executives and not shills, whores, and self dealing pos. This is not going to end well. It reminds me of the fumbling around that the feds did under Buchanan and at the start of the Lincoln Administration. We know how that eventually turned out.
